Phoebe Philo - Designer

I never said I had a distaste for PP. I'm just saying that having to put out logo t-shirts as a cash grab means that they need more funding stat. Also they don't produce much of their products, so them selling out means nothing.

I’m guessing you have the stats regarding their production numbers then? You didn’t even read my post before responding, and then editing. But here’s a question: if the t-shirts are a cash grab, why is it that it’s the cashmere sweater that seems to driving consumers here? Do you think the business model is so bad that they’re producing cashmere in artificially small batches to stoke hype? That’s just a patently absurd theory, and it’s grounded entirely in speculation about numbers we don’t have access to.

Well I have her most recent line sheet. And knowing some folks from her stockists, I know for a fact that a lot of her stock isn't selling well as they thought it would.

So you don’t have the production numbers.

Well they have a pretty tight maximum buy for the ready to wear, so I'm assuming from what's given to us.
But are they not still in the early stages of the brick and mortar rollout, and was the plan not to have "select" items from each edit available in-store? I assumed that the goal there was to redirect consumers back to the e-commerce site, not to provide full access. Don't get me wrong, I'm not imagining thousands of cashmere sweaters, but it would logically follow that the majority of each edit is being reserved for online sales.

Bad gal Riri wearing PP to court (do we think she pulled a Marc Jacobs and dressed her for the trial?)

Rihanna likely bought her clothes herself or through a personal shopper.
I mean she was a Celine by Philo client at some point.
She is known to be a client. For that I applaud her.

Galeries Lafayette ? What an odd choice...
Right! Traffic I guess.
And it’s her first shop-in-shop, not just a corner so maybe they offered some interesting garanties to her.

I’m not mad at it tbh. It kinda break the suppose irrational elitism people have associated with her work.

About the space itself, it looks like an Old Celine store.

From her shop-in-shop at Bergdorf's to this space on Lafayette, I’m surprised by how uninspiring and unexciting the physical retail aspect of her brand is—it feels like an afterthought. I wonder if they’ll put in more effort once she opens a stand-alone shop.
She should take a look at The Row and Toteme, with beautifully designed stores and curated interiors.

^ but The Row and Toteme have way more money to design beautiful stores than Phoebe Philo has currently.

And if we want to compare The Row and Phoebe Philo at their beginning. The Row was a brand selling just expensive t-shirts…

Phoebe Philo has absolutely no need to look at these two brands. 🤭

For me this is a classic shop in shop at Galeries Lafayette : not breathtaking, not bad. It is nice enough to attract potentially new customers who are not accustomed to her eponymous brand.

The traffic at GL is crazy, the different types of customers is huge and will help to make her brand less ‘niche’ or ‘fan base’.

She launched a "new" purse, which is basically a version of the Céline trio...she is copying herself! So soon run out of ideas or what??
