Phoebe Philo - Life After Chloe - *Update* Creative Director for Celine

so ivana is out?! uh-oh. celine has that kinda sporty, jet-setting vibe... is that really phoebe's aesthetics? can't wait to see her debut nonetheless

Wow I don't even pay attention to Celine but I sure will with Philo's designs.

But the one thing I dont get. Is she presenting for Fall 2009 or Spring 2010??? I'm confused

Phoebe Philo is responsible for making Chloé a resounding success. Bernard Arnault has bought into a real cult: an obvious choice to reinvent the aging brand!

i knew something was up...
gap europe closed all it's european offices...
which i didn't get ...unless they had lost philo...

so ...clearly they have...

interesting to know that she really wanted her own label but agreed to take over celine instead...(poor ivana)...
i am SO curious to know what this big design plan is ....
...

ivana was good

i think ivana was going a good job , Phoebe's clothes are more street and youthful and celine is all about working and jet set clothes ....hmmmmmmmmmmm...well Phoebe is a genius sooo .......but I wonder what ivana will do, girls got talent.

Seems like a good deal for both parties involved. LVMH gets the star designer they need to revive Celine, and Phoebe gets a big salary and another start at getting her name back int the fashion atmosphere, she's only 34, plenty of time for her own line later.

i think the reason is $$$$$$$$$$$$
poor ivana indeed
but let's be fair, Celine could use some new input :innocent:

Even though the buzz has been around for a while, I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around this pairing. My image of Celine is the polar opposite of my image of Phoebe's work. Chloe is Celine's free spirited little sister or step daughter...not her contemporary.

Needless to say I'm curious to see what she'll do.

I'm so excited Phoebe's back.

While it's an unexpected pairing, that just sparks my curiosity.

I remember in one of Phoebe's "last" interviews, she coyly mentioned that she now wants to know "what old chicks want to wear". Obviously there is truth to every sarcastic comment; I think she meant it.

And even towards the end of her days at Chloe, she would always mention how much growing up she's done. She's had kids, she's spent a lot of time away from the industry..I think her style may have matured with her.

Anyways, I think she'll do a great job! :flower:

I think Celine has totally lost touch with its original clientele and image - I really don't know the brands heritage or archive hits. I do know that in the days prior to Michael Kors it was a bit of an "old lady" brand. Michael Kors - a purveyor of sophisticated luxe sportswear/classic Park Ave Chic - didn't foster the old clientele and with Ivana - although the collections come out with some noteworthy pieces - in its totality Celine is a bit hit and miss. I'm hoping that with Phoebe LVMH will give her free reign to create the clothes for the girl/woman she is and wants to be. And I'm sure Phoebe is smart enough to differentiate her new work from her Chloe past. I for one - now having deserted the sinking ship that is Chloe - am excitedly looking forward to her first Celine collection!

i think we cant expect great things from Phoebe at at Celine, and not necessarily what we've already seen from her. it's been a "long time" since we've seen anything from her, so she will probably surprise us with something much more mature than the expected tomboy-aesthetic we know from her. I dont think she is that naive to just repeat the chloe formula of young hype accessories and girly out-of-a-vintage-closet dresses, and she will know how to adapt to a house with such heritage.
I really can't wait for her debut!

Great to hear that her position is finally confirmed - I can't wait to see what she'll produce for Celine.
