Photographers / Stylists - about rates / fees

they'll have all that stuff there...
you return them when you return the merchandise...
just the same way they give it to you...

and what about the average rates for a personal stylist (for people, not celebrities) in London?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering about how to determine what fee to charge someone.
A model is interested in doing a shoot with me and asked what would be fair compensation for my time.
I have no idea what to tell her;
I'm half inclined not to charge her at all
Because it would be portfolio building for the both of us,
But at the same time... if she's offering... y'know?

Well ... it certainly depends on your level of expertise.

There are some photographers that do portfolio shots for a living ... although they'll never get paid much for this. I think their rates are often around $400 for 4 looks.

I once styled for a portfolio shoot for a very well known photographer from Europe, who travels to NY and LA from time to time for other business, but he picks up a few extra bucks shooting for agencies. He does what I call a "gang bang" ... he does it all in one day ... maybe 5 or 6 models and he just does it in the hotel. And he even charged about that ... so I would say that's a going rate. Less for smaller cities ... and less for unexperienced shooters.

Hm, interesting.
Yeah, I don't think I'm going to charge her for anything.
Thank you for the information, BetteT!
