wow thankyou so much!! :D may i know where'd you get this info? :)
i'd like to give you a karma but i dont know how..

^whoops its working now :)
I can see that he doesn't use any fancy lighting? Only natural light?
I've been to a fashion photography workshop before and they use things like softbox, hotlight etc..

You have to imagine:

Juergen works the simpliest way its possible to take pics - so you aswell get this 'special' look of juergens pictures.

Simply he uses the 35mm camera and sometimes this small but effective TLA flash.
Thats it.
Thats the reason aswell, why his pictures are so different to other photographers (who use medium format, studio equipment (flash light you mentioned) and so on...).

Many, many professional photographers still work on the one hand with film, on the other just with 35mm cameras (see: wolfgang tillmans, nacho alegre, jitka hanzlova, mark borthgwith, ryan mcginley, nan goldin, terry richardson (but he now works digital...) and and and.
So definetly, film is still alive!

^thankyou jalat1!

btw at that workshop, other photographers were making fun of film cameras (my camera)
and reading this makes me happy :D -> 'So definetly, film is still alive!'

i'd love to read more infos about film photographers if you guys dont mind to share :flower: this thread should be keep alive ^_^

Ok first off, lets not get this to become a digital vs. film thread. They are pointless and tend to derail fairly quickly.

But making fun of someone for using a film camera just shows the ignorence of the person. Only workshop i've attended where one guy had a film camera, the other people were impressed rather than scornful. "Wow, i would never dare doing that, how do you know that you got the image?" "I look through the viewfinder when i press the button" ;)

To use a film camera today (and especially if you are a new photographer) shows in my opinion a dedication to the craft of photography. It's removing the training wheels of digital and diving head first into the deep end of the pool. Mistakes are recorded and you cannot reformat the card and try again so you have to take care of every single shot, making sure it becomes as good as possible.

Tbh, if i could shoot only on polaroids (or have a dedicated assistant who don't mind spending the shoot inside the darkroom) and have a free supply of film i wouldn't mind shooting all my stuff on film. Though today i only shoot medium and large format on film, 35mm is 99.9% digital (though i AM about to shoot a bit of underwater fashion on B&W film ;D

And i must say, shooting large format cameras is infinitely more fun (in my opinion) than shooting digital small (35mm) format. sure, it can't be used for everything, but thats not the point. It's just fun cameras to shoot with and it feels like you went back in time to a different era. And yes, i wish i had the money to shoot collodial glass plate cameras aswell, a bit weird like that ;D

Of course,if you're referring to my post,I wouldnt want this thread to become a digital vs film thread because this is certainly not a place for that :D
Thanks for sharing.. I'm still a newbie and I'd like to try different kinds of cameras (large format etc) after I gained some experience :)

I was thinking of compiling a list of photographers and their gears like:
Terry Richardson = yashica t4, etc
but for that to happen I'd need an awful lot of infos :P

Miles Aldridge shoots with a Rolleiflex 6008AF and still shoots on film as of 2010!

I saw him shooting the Lavazza 2010 campaign on Youtube using the camera.

^5nap5hot thanks for the info :)
Wow many established fashion photographers shoot with fancy cameras... Rolleiflex, phase one.. Paolo Roversi uses a large format vintage camera
frankly I cant imagine them shooting with a typical canon 1000d :P
