Pictures Of Your Magazine Collection

Can someone please tell me which plastic covers for the magazines are the best and would fit Vogue perfectly? I was browsing through websites but cannot find anything specific. I'd really appreciate your help!

^I'm sure someone else can give you a link where to order them but as for me, I get them from comic shops. They always sell magazine bags. It's difficult to find any that are big enough for Vogue UK and such, though.

Thank you! Yes. I know all those mags come in different sizes so it's hard to find the perfect ones online when you cannot see how big they really are. I got a link from another reader to bagsunlimited.com , I think I'll give it a try and then finally share my collection with all of you ;)

Here's my magazine collection:)

I only started my collection in December 2008, so there's a lot of catching up to some of you guys. I started with Vogue Australia, and then US Vogue, US Bazaar, GQ, Details & British Vogue. Amica, L'Officiel soon followed. Only buys select issues of French Vogue, Italian Vogue, Chinese Vogue. Currently adding i-D, LOVE, Numero, Another Man, Arena Homme+ & GQStyle to the stable. Spends about $100 a month on magazines. HELP! I'm addicted!!!

^ That is a very impressive collection already!! Imagine where you will be in five years!! :woot: Yes, it is a healthy addiction, you can do much worse... ^_^

ash92 I really admire your collection! I love how they remain clean and untouched! I love it! Good job.

Must remember to get plastic protectors at Rochor Centre before NS man... Or the magazines will oxidize..

ash92 you take excellent care of your collection, I can tell they are going to be in perfect condition for a long time :flower:

:)

ash92, idk why i never thought of alternating the magazines like that. i have always hated how one side is all bent. so clever!

Bags Unlimited (who I seem to be ordering from once a week recently...) has magazine frames!! :o You can slide your favorites in and hang them up- sort of like a rotating collage and they don't get damaged...How cool is that!! :woot:

I hate when there's marks on my magazine pages, usually because you hold the magazine or open the magazine too harsh, do you guys know how to remove that kind of marks??
I bought Vogue Paris Dec and the shop clerk hold the magazine so harsh it ends up with lot of marks on the pages, feels like i wanna cry when i see that hahahaha

I know, I hate those too, once I made the salesman call MagExpress (the company that distributes foreign Vogues here in Brasil) and ask them to send another issue of VP November 2009, because he hold too strong the last issue on the store and there were marks all over the cover.

As with letting magazine collectors know that they are not alone, this forum here let me know that I'm not the only one with an OCD for Magazines' conditions. I can cherry-pick magazines at my local bookstore for up to almost an hour, even for just a single title, just to be able to buy the most perfect copy out of the pile.

And I pissed the salesgirl at the counter off BIG-TIME:ninja:

ash92, wow, that's an impressive collection indeed! 100$ per month?! That's even more impressive  I had a magazine-bying-addiction when I was younger; I spent all of my pocket money on them, though it was smaller sum than yours. Someday I just realised that I buy so many magazines that I even don't have time to read them all and since that day I just forbad myself to buy any. That helped! :D

P.S. Do you read them all?.. Just curious :innocent:

I do actually:) My sister was asking whether I do that, because she'd rather flip through Cosmo or something like that, and I told her I pore over the magazine to look at the imagery, read the articles, and also learn the structure of the various magazines..I ran the school magazine, so I do appreciate the workings of a magazine. hahaha

Recently, I had a major examination, so I held off myself from reading the various magazines. And I'm very anal, because I have to be the first person to read them, and hates it when my sister(older that is) thinks that siblings have to share everything, and would try to snatch it from my cupboard. So one tip I got from a friend, after he gifted me magazines and high fashion catalogues on my birthday(which i really appreciated), is to wrap it up with cling wrap, so that they're tightly wound, and I would know if there's any tampering done!

^What a smart friend (also a pretty nice one too for gifting you magazines/high fashion catalogues)! I might just have to try this tip, except to keep me from reading them until my exams are done. Often times I have to keep them out of site so I wont be tempted to read them so maybe if I wrap them up it will be like- out of sight out of mind.

That's made me remember - when I was a teenager, I used to create mini-magazines - this was in the days before the internet, so I had to draw all the content myself - and to give them that wrapped-in-plastic look like you'd see in the store, I used to seal the 'magazine' in clingfilm, making sure the seam was tight down the side, and then I'd heat it gently with a hairdryer, so that it would shrink and sit tight around the magazine, in the manner of how Vogue Italia has its supplements.

 Glad to know other people do this. I always feel like such a freak going through all the issues of a particular issue I want to find one that has no folded edges or anything. Whatever. I'm paying for it, I don't want a damaged issue!

^ Tigerrouge that is so cool- it reminded me of the stories of young Yves Saint Laurent building miniature theaters with little cardboard dolls wearing his fashion designs...how wonderful is that? ^_^
And I am glad I am not the only OCD who has to find the totally unmarked or folded copy!! B)
