I’m sorry but saying Pierpaolo was “never good at color” is blasphemy. He literally has some of the best sense of color story in all of fashion, the rich marigolds, teals, magentas in his couture were downright breathtaking. His absolutely has an eye for color.

I think it's great I wish him the best he's a great designer. Can't wait to see demna last couture show. For some reason out of these bunch of designers, There are no Karl lagerfelds. Once they hit their 10 year or 15 year mark they just go on a sort of repetition and then they fall out. I find it very weird very corporate.

I liked his Valentino for a few seasons. Then it got boring.
Was never really a creative vision that excited me.
Commercial-wise, he didn't have an it bag or accessories, did he?
Last years at Valentino he tried to make some happen but nothing stuck.

But I think all the fashion Tiktokers and commentators will eat this up.

Not sure about customers but they took a chance, so I guess they will have to wait for 3 years at least.

Everyone hating on PPP, I’m just curious, who in your respective opinions would have been a “better” choice than he?

Keep in mind it would need to someone with experience in Haute Couture, Womenswear, and Menswear.

And for goodness sake enough of the Riccardo Tisci mentions on this forum in every single thread. The man is a relic from days gone by.

Dont get me wrong i was a fan of ppp for a brief moment and i even have a valentino bifold to vouch for that. But he plateaud so fast with his flowy dresses, there was no moving forward with him. He knew he was stuck so he did monochrome flowy dresses to cover up how limtied he got.

For other choices, there is tisci, pilati, vauthier, di felice, grazioli, even bruno from lanvin would do great. I liked his Lanvin when he did oppulence but the whole group behind lanvin was a mess. Too many good options who can do more than bridesmaids dressess. Jeremy scott would have been a nice option too

Anyways, I’m glad I see the new comments in this thread, thank god a little bit of sanity somewhere.

The color thing… he pretends to be good at color but if you check his shows it’s quite try hard. Most of the colors don’t combine well with each other and they are quite off most of the times… but he just mixes hues for the sake of it and pretends to be an artist or something. I can’t.

Kering once had McQueen, Nicolas, Pilati, Daniel Lee (not that I like this one, but he really made BV what’s today). Now they have the stylist Vaccarello, Louise Trotter, the godmother dresses store called Balenciaga under PPP and the most PASSÉ designer working today aka Demna.

Daniel Lee at Balenciaga? Really? Out of which couture expertise?
For me appointing PPP makes total sense, who else has the same sense resume to approach a house like that? (I know, I know, resume doesn't count much these days, yet...)
