a project like this takes a minimum a year or 2 ...its all demna coded concept of replica (margiela fan boy that he is) and the trolling of its not what you see what it is etc

campaigns are shot a year in advance mostly and will need to last longer so they shoot part one and part 2 at same time etc etc and release later
decisions of packaging etc are month months and months of decision making etc etc

fast example is like hedi started with celine perfume project on his first day in January 2018 as he mentioned to only come out with celine parfum in August 20, 2019 and some dropped later in 2020 even if announced already in august 2019 and that's a fast lead time.
as he mentioned he had the ideas and names and concept already in his mind for a while before joining Celine.

Demna was closing the projects that was coming out while he was already unofficially meeting gucci teams and starting the september project etc etc while closing up balenciaga lose ends signing off on projects in the pipeline.

honestly this parfum project is late they could have cashed in on it in the hype days of demna already like after 3 years being at balenciaga the ceo should have put pressure for a project like this or let it come right after the first couture show to solidify it has a modern couture specialist house etc

timing seems just as desperate attempt to boost the business as things seem to slow down and the captain left now the ship as well the titanic of the group lol
