I don't mean any offense by this Laura, but you're 13 right? I absolutely detest the thought of a 13-year-old girl wearing something with the Playboy logo on it. :(
Exactly, I know that I'd be really uncomfortable if my child ever wore that. :ninja:

I wouldnt go that far with the t-shirts or woteva with these massive logos on,i just like the things like the watches and earrings ect,but thanks for your posts anyway!!

and yeh im 13

Just to add- in Europe, I really think that Playboy just doesn't have the association with p*rn that it has in the USA, it's just a logo. It sells mainly to teenagers over here.

In Hong Kong, China and Japan, I noticed it is very popular with teenagers.

The rabbit logo is one of the worlds most recognised logos so I'm not surprised its been licensed out to manufacturers.

Even if it is seen as risque, isn't that what teenagers like? To shock their parents? Last year it was fcuk t shirts. Let them do it. Personally I'd rather they wear the rabbit than take drugs or smoke. It's just an image.

It seems a bit 'nanny state' to ban teenagers from wearing it. I can still remember being a teenager and trying to rebel and shock my parents, can you?

^ wow... I didnt know it was like that in Europe.

We sunbathe topless and we don't wear bathing suits in the sauna either. :innocent:

Not me at all, but yeah teenagers sure I agree with Lady muck, she makes a good point.

I think the whole playboy concept in general isn't overtly harmful, after all when it was first brought out it wasn't classed as p*rn and had some topical issues in it...it was seen as a mens magazine. It doesn't bother me at all, if people choose to read it so be it, and if people choose to wear their products then so be it.

I think girls do generally wear the logo to provoke the thoughts of others in general like 'ooh look sex', I think it's all just a bit of a tease, and represents a false image. However I'm sure alot of the girls also wear it coz it's just like 'cute, sexy' kinda image that they want to portray...when your'e in your young teens, sometimes thats how you want to be thought of, you want to fit in, you want to be desired, you want to rebel slightly. I dunno maybe I'm over analysing...pah

Has anyone here actually read it?

My dad read it in the Sixties, there were (and still are) some really good articles in it. He's not ashamed to admit it, either.

Some of the cover shots I think are really creative and almost iconic.

As for the p*rn - having worked in the fashion modelling industry and having seen more than one 13 year old persuaded by a photographer to do tasteful  topless test shots, I really wonder how much or little difference there really is in fashion and glamour photography. At least glamour is upfront about what it is - I'm tired of seeing topless models on the catwalk, for instance, it's boring.

I don't think i have read it no, other than having a giggle at a mag some boys bought when I was 11 and on a trip to germany...haha.

I feel some of the p*rn of today de-sensitises the original playboy thing

I'm not sure about the difference between the two types of photography...I don't think my mind is prepared to span that far today

Heres a classic cover

apparently the rabbit is hidden on every cover photo.

Just to add- I know a lot of people here respect Katie Grand, the stylist - she was a friend of a friend of mine. It was she and Pippa Brooks (owner of Shop in Soho), who first persuaded Playboy to make clothing and jewellery. I distinctly remember meeting her in a bar in Soho when she was wearing a Rabbit necklace. a lot of her early shoots for Dazed and Confused and the Face were heavily inspired by Playboy covers.

In fact Pippa went on to become a Playmate - you might hate me for this but I saw the pics and they were brilliant in a Vivienne Westwood /kooky kind of way.

So we can blame Katie!

Germaine Greer has written for Playboy!

I agree with the majority of the people here.. its tacky.. and I don't like it on girls.. looks tasteless.. and i think "why?"

Same for girls who wear hooters shirts.. that don't work at hooters or aren't in a hooters restaurant.

I agree.. the magazine itself is not as tasteless as the other magazines out there selling the same thing. Thats why people like Cindy Crawford (shot by Herb Ritts) and many others have posed for the magazine.

My old school is famous for rich blond girls who dress upp in very revealing clothes and yes they are really fond of the bunny logo, and they are fond of the bunny because of it's meaning! They wear their thong high up and their pants are so low you can see the rest of their very well shaved bush, some have fake t*ts and shirts to go with their big boobs and lets not forget the very messy hair, it has been a big fashion (hopefully not anymore) to have their hair in a total mess like they just had sex, big messu lump on the back of their head with louse hair on the front.:sick: They have bunny logo cell phones, bunny logo bags (bunny school bags and many have a small LV when there are breaks), they have bunny logo jewelry and I spotted a few girls with a hip chain/bealt that said "Boy Toy" " I love sex" "p*rn star" "sexy" etc. Their tank tops had many simular writings.
Imagine Britney Spears gone to p*rn star.... yea... that's what the girls look like. ok, I'm seriously disgused right now, I'm so glad I'm done with that school! :yuk: And I even graduated there, began and finisehd collage there, I think I must be a really strong person to do that ;) they have really good art classes there :flower:

^ Yuck!

I dont like Playboy stuff..I think its quite tacky looking and cheap. Its funny though because its quite big with some teens over here. I also hated their LV multicolore style bags with bunnies all over:yuk:

I personally would never wear anything with the playboy logo, but i can see why some girls like it and especially teens. the bunny is cute...but the whole meaning behind the bunny for a teen is a little.....i dont know...too much??? i guess im just old fashioned, but if you like it, dont let anyone stop u! :)

haha how lovely *ania* After giving this more thought, I think the playboy bunny wouldn't be so awful if it hadn't been bought into by so many wannabes and such like. for example a simple bunny brooch or something on someone who was aware of the meaning etc (and not a young teenager) would probably be pretty cool if it just wasn't so widely spread, it's like many things once they're 'overdone' thats the end of it. I hate all this monogram crap, and actually had the glory of seeingmonogram playboy products in a magazine this morning...these included:
Water dispenser
Mini fridge
Boom box
Mouse mat
Shower radio
Handbag radio
hmm... made my day I tell you

^^ i do agree with you there actually, they have gone a bit over the top i mean there is everything, mini fridges,jewellery,clothes,bedcovers,pillowes... everythin!! so i think that they have gone a bit... wild with it.
