playboy

I'd hate for my future daughters to ever wear something like this that young though. You might give guys the wrong picture. (that your easy) Young boys will not understand anything more than that it is a call for sex. They will not get its a classic symbol come from a retro magazine, that playboy is also a magazine with articles in it, etc.
Yep. And you could replace "young boys" with "all men".

All men will think that wearing the Playboy logo is a call for sex? The human brain isn't known for being a sex-crazed logo-recognition machine, in most cases it's a bit more complicated than that...

complicated? I beg to differ! ... and I don't think it takes thinking with their brain, at least not *that* brain. ;)

ofcourse it doenst! I completley agree with you rhiannonmars...
just think of the young girls who wear the tiny skirts, older dudes stare all the time... if they really used thier *brains* they would realize- she's way too young for me to be attracted to her...

Ofcourse I am speaking about men in general- this is a generalization...

Keyword. I still don't think it's true of actually the majority of men as y'know in my experience most men are normal human beings just as most women are normal human beings but I can live with it being a generalisation.

I agree it is a generalization, but I have no doubts that at least 90% of guys see a playboy shirt and think something along the lines of "she wants sex".

I know that teenagers live off their hormones. I do not think teenage sex or thinking about it is nessesarily wrong. I think they are going to be this way and you don't need the extra short skirt, playboy top, other easy or sl*tty outfits to get attention.

Girls *do* get the reputation of being a "sl*t* for things like this. I don't really know if that is something the original poster wants to be looked at as?

It is when guys over the appropriate legal age are giving the attention, that is where it gets dangerous. I guess sometimes the guys that are thinking this way about 14 year olds with playboy shirts on would think so despite the playboy logo, but why encourage them, or any guy? There are much more contructive healthy ways of getting a mans attention.

I bet you live in a city. I bet you have friends that are like you, and grew up with a decent father figure. You are very lucky and I commend you for not being the generalization. People like you surround yourself with other people of the same values, so you can just be around things that make you feel positive.

Generalizations and sterotypes often route in truth. There are no absolutes in this world, but there is something called the majority. Majority mindsets usally help define these sterotypes or they would never be made.

I don't think the rest of the world is so wonderful as you (and guys like my husband) are. I don't know, but until you are a woman, you can't imagine all the unnessesary and innapropriate attention women get even with out wearing playboy stuff. Wearing it is like an open call for cat calls, having your breasts oogled, or some guy innapriately commenting on your shirt(jewlery, etc). Hands down, if I wore a playboy shirt to work, I would have all the perverts here asking me about it, asking me to come over to their place, or ask me out for a drink. These guys try to act civial at work, but I hear stories about every one of them and their behavior. I live in a suburb. I can not imagine what attention I would get from it if I wore it in these little nothing american towns. (I lived in one once for two years).... Hey, if my job would not be in limbo if I did that, I would do a test run just to prove it to you!

The stereotype about women is that they are stupid, can't drive and their place is doing the washing up. All of these have a 'root' in truth. The highest 0.01% intelligence quotient is likely to be male because men are more genetically diverse (but on average women are more intelligent). Women do have less spacial awareness than men (but they are lower risk takers, hence better drivers overall). In a 'breadwinner' relationship it is more sensible for the non-breadwinner to do the equivalent amount of housework (but this is not the kind of relationship most people have).

I've heard many women make derogatory comments about men but I don't believe that the majority of women are inherently sexist. If little boys weren't taught from a young age that girls smell and are only good for sex and little girls weren't taught that boys are sex mad maniacs and only good for money then perhaps the pervs at work wouldn't be bothered about you wearing a Playboy t-shirt. Faith in humanity has a lot of benefits...

Uhm, yes, we all know that the sterotype is that women are "stupid"?! What is that about?! Are you living in the 21st century along with me?

I think there is a big difference between the sterotypes point out, and the near almost fact that a man would give innapropriate attention to a girl with a playboy shirt.

I don't think it is derogatory to men to say that MOST men would think with their second brain if they saw a girl with a playboy shirt. I think it's derogatory to women that men would do this! Come on here, your not the victim here. What is the damage to you? There is much more damage to a young girl getting oggled, then a man who is offended that two women online think that MOST men *in this situation* would think with their brain?

It will be good to know you, and people like you will teach their kids good values. In my opinion, I do not think society has evolved to be that intelligent yet. Come on, look at the sh*t on TV, our president, and Gap clothing! Most of the US is stupid!

I'm not going to continue the debate as I could go on and on - to me, generalisations are counter productive and create more gender divisions between what are almost genetically identical groups. But yes, I know plenty of men and boys who think that women are idiots. Well-educated, urban, middle-class young men with respectable parents. H*ll, I even know someone who thinks female genitalia smell of fish - I know his mum, she's a solicitor (attorney in the USA?). The 21st century holds many suprises...

When I talk with a person one on one, I do not make generlizations.

I think it is the only way I can define society as a group. I relate to little in this country. I would love to "be at one" with people or some hippie shite, but that just can't be.

Remember, I never said "all men are dogs". I am only debating a very specific topic, the playboy clothes. Do you really not see that they would gain negative attention?

I know you don't like me thinking most men would act innapropriately, but you said yourself you know men who think women are stupid, smell like fish, etc. Aren't these the same men who would blindly oggle a women with a playboy shirt?

(BTW, you keep bringing up the fish smell thing which is making me laugh over here. Fishy smells come from women with discharge disorders. I remember a clinic once telling me that a huge percentage (but not half or anything) have this disorder. It is either that, or their women have yeast infections! Women pretty much smell like nothing if they are healthy.

Hey, I put my hands up on the old debate already. We seem to think similar things from slightly different viewpoints so there's no point turning it into an argument.

(Thank the government's compulsory 'Citizenship' when I was 16 for my vast knowledge of vaginal disorders. Women naturally produce a chemical that smells like fish. However, they also produce an enzyme which destroys said chemical. The enzyme can be depleted by bad diet, specific infections and a cumulative STI which becomes more severe the more sexual partners without protection. Don't you wish you went to school in the UK!)

I SAW (ha, school is out) girls with playboy bunny shirts, purses, studded-fake tattoo things, etc. Really tacky and degrading.

there is a playboy store in Waikiki. went in once... never again. their merchandise pretty much just rips off any designer they want, replaces their logo with a bunny and makes it candy coloured. not something i want to be associated with. not even going to get into the debacle about how what you buy from a company that sponsors and upholds views of women that are not at all to my liking.

i have a playboy bunny keychain. got it free using some online coupon code a while back. any whooooo i think the bunny is cute and even gave one to my mom who thinks the same. i dont think this anyway makes me seem cheap or easy why? because i dont carry myself as cheap or easy.

i wouldnt wear the jewerly or anything like that...why? its just not something i would want to do.

also i dont understand why people think playboy is degrading? photos of adult nude women, who did so without anyone forcing them. so what...dont get it.

I'm 18 and while I don't own any of it, I find some of it to be tacky. I'm into some of the merchandise that looks vintage-y and I would love to have a crystalized bunny necklace. However some of the purses can be tacky and other things-I won't go there. I almost bought some sunglasses though that weren't too tacky.
