hi, i'm a new poster.

softgrey, you can get really good, fairly inexpensive wool yarn on wednesdays at the union square farmer's market. the stall is on the north side of the park, right across the street from barnes and noble.

the colors they have are really beautiful, very saturated and rich.

Yeah- I forgot about that guy :flower: He sells pretty nice quality Merino wool from his sheep farm upstate. Worsted to bulky weights-- nice colors-- would make some great pom poms.

He used to have his stall on the west side of the park- but maybe he's moved.

This is a great thread, so interesting and inspiring!! After reading through I made some pom poms too ^_^

I have some trouble trimming the pom poms to make them very round though... any tips? :blush:

this is a bit off topic but in year 4 I made a pom pom version of a baby chicken - lol, two yellow pompoms tied together, one smaller than the other - then we stuck bits of paper to the smaller ones to look like eyes and a little beak :blush: :P just thought I'd share
 
Saw a new journal at the weekend called Selvedge - its a journal of textiles. It looked excelled actually. It had a feature on Pom poms in it.
