Porter #21 Summer Escape 2017 : Doutzen Kroes & Imaan Hammam by Vincent van de Wijngaard

this doesn't really say summer to me, not a fan. doutzens dress is gorgeous though.

They've already put a summer edition out, so are they adding one more issue per year? This doesn't appear to be the one for fall 2017.

It's always been bi-monthly as follows;

Dec-Jan = Winter Escape
Feb-Mar = Spring
Apr-May = Summer

There's some good shots in there but it just seems to me that Safari and Vincent are not a good match.

Imaan just literally steals the show...

African Queen is one of the best eds of the year. Nothing more to say. Wow. I love Vincent, already worked with him, he is a genius ^_^

“Wild At Heart”… and both women look bored out of their minds LOL

“African Queen” is nice. Vincent's shots are steeped in atmosphere, and Imaan... she has the regal bearing and still versatile playfulness that reminds me a lot of Veronica Webb and Yasmeen Ghauri, two of the best models of the OG Super era. Too bad the styling looks so barren, and Imaan's presence deserves something more majestic, more stately, something more regal.

Thanks sixtdaily.

My subscription arrived today, and I received Doutzen's solo cover. I've had a quick leaf through and can't say I'm compelled enough to look through the issue again. What a total bore.. literally nothing (expect four images of Julia Stegner) that I like. The two covers aren't even all that and the whole issue just falls flat. Yeah.. definitely going straight on the shelf collecting dust.

Imaan slays everything; I love her photographs. Doutzen is okay (obviously very beautiful but I'm not getting a lot out of her here). Overall though, I would defineitly be interested in purchasing this issue if I can get the issue with both Imaan & Doutzen.

I'm not sure what message I'm supposed to take away from the two solo edits. Doutzen is presented as having a life rooted in community and charitable endeavours (of course) while Imaan, in her royal state, is a solitary figure trekking the stark landscape? Okaaay...

Obviously Imaan's ed is the best in this issue. But overall it's still a slightly disappointing issue, I mean it's good but it's not great. There's just something lacking.
Still very happy for Vincent though.

:lol::lol::lol:, hold it right there, Bahiyya! I saw that as well, but then think of it. If the roles had been changed it may have been just as cliched, perhaps even regarded as racist for the pearl clutching SJWs. Of course the fact that Doutzen Kroes is somewhat of a activist for African elephants comes through clearly. Indeed, I wouldn't be shocked to find that she may have planted the seed with Vincent.

Imaan's editorial is superior and wins on all fronts. It's a perfect luxury fashion story. She got the memo and followed through. Despite the fact that Doutzen is more attuned to this region, all her shots look so awkward. She also seemed to have forgotten that she's supposed to model here.

Ultimately I do applaud Doutzen for her efforts with the elephants. They are very intelligent animals, and I'm shocked to find that people are still mercilessly killing them for their tusks. They should look into he trading in Hong Kong, they seem to have an awful lot of tusk jewellery!

Imaan did the story justice but I am, overall, left feeling that if I do not see another "African safari" editorial for the summer it would not be too soon.

There are fun things to do in the cities too. Although no nice elephants.
