Victoria Beckham Won't Wear Sari For Elizabeth Hurley Wedding

Victoria Beckham is reportedly refusing to follow Elizabeth Hurley's Indian dress code for her upcoming wedding.

The former Spice Girl, who prides herself on her sense of style, was horrified when she received Liz's invitation instructing female guests to wear traditional pink saris, and has vowed to ignore the request.

A source was quoted in Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "The thought of arriving in India and picking an outfit doesn't appeal to Victoria. She's a planner. What if there's nothing she likes?

"Her style icon status is her stock in trade and pink just isn't her colour." Model Liz and her fiancé Indian business tycoon Arun Nayer, who are expected to marry in March, sent guests copies of their dress code earlier this month.

The nuptials will begin with an English ceremony in the Cotswolds, followed by a traditional Indian ceremony in Mumbai.

Stylish Liz wants her guests to look "glamorous and fabulous" in traditional Indian dress.

Men have been asked to wear Indian tunics and turbans.

A shop will be specially set-up for guests to buy their clothes when they arrive at their hotel in Mumbai

Sheesh! It's one thing for a star to request saris, but PINK saris? I would wear it anyday but I think that Liz should have had some alternative colours.

oh god lol that's tacky, a room full of women dressed in pink sari's!! what a horrible idea! geez at least let them choose their own colours!

Saris are so gorgeous..but i've only seen a handful that use pink well. I'm personally a huge fan of saris in earth muted colours with a splash of vibrant green, yellow, gold etc. Pink to me is just....a nono.

this is soo silly but nothing that suprises me...:ninja:
we have a "theme" party in our family at least once a year. this year my brother is celebrating a "carnival extravaganza" (think brazil) and everyone literally gets into the mood by dressing up.. and yeah the guests are all in a "better league" (dare i say) than miss posh! honestly what is she thinking? its a wedding and it happens to be in india: wear the Sari or look stupid (once again)

THat's so like Posh. C'mon, it's Liz's day so she can come up with any crazy ideas.

Though I don't think saris will look good on skinny Posh hehe

I'm sure it's more about Posh wanting to find something totally different in order to upstage Hurley.

Ugh! Why would you want to have Posh at your wedding (Sari or no Sari!) !?

I highly doubt that Victoria Beckham is a true friend to anyone (not even herself)...

Question to the Brits on the boards:

Do you have any celebs that can hold a tacky-free wedding? Any at all?

It's not that ridiculous a request; she's being traditional.
I hope she doesn't left Posh come, if she doesn't agree to wear it.

While bling and furs are kind of mandatory, The Queen is generally thought to throw a tasteful wedding bash. Not to mention her own, the show they put on for Charlie and Di was kind of famous at the time...

^ True... I do so love royal weddings. :D
Back on topic- she should just wear it. Everyone will know she did it for a wedding. She should just get over herself!

Eh....if you're going to invite people to your wedding (invite, not pay them to come) then you should let them wear whatever the heck they want to wear. It may be Liz's day but seems to me that you shouldn't make the guests hate your wedding before they even arrive.

Then again, if I was going to a wedding where I really hated the bride, I'd wear the hottest little dress I could squeeze myself into.....so maybe Liz is trying to play it safe.

dont believe it!
plus who would let anyone dictate what you should wear when you over 2!

i think some are missing the point.
Liz is having more than one wedding. another one is planned for the UK alone..
however, the whole thing to have one wedding in India is all that comes with it (tradition) and one of the things is getting dressed indian style... thats one of the beauties of this wedding!
and no,i doubt there is anything tacky about it.
in fact one of the hottest weddings of the year was by vic chatwal in india featured in tatler as one of the most extravagant. (know a lot of people who went and believe me from pics it was far from tacky)
anyway, the little tackiness will be there no matter what but thats the whole bollywood phenomenon which is only growing not the other way round.

Posh should really get over herself, as mentioned, and wear this sari. just for once do as you told POSH:hardhead:
