Here are some old fashioned moments that caught my attention (and still haunt me) while digging through the WWD archives a few summers ago
From January 8, 1959... A certain "Roland Karl," head designer at Patou, friends with a certain Yves Saint Laurent at Dior.
February 7, 1961 - Printing a random photo of a guy who looked like (but wasin't) Balenciaga waiting at a bus stop. I think he turned out to be one of his neighbours and was very unhappy (but I can't find the citation).
November 1, 1965 - WWD Followed Yves on a tour of the United States some of the anecdotes were... concerning... "vitamin" injections??? Genuinely shocked this was published.
October 12, 1966 - This super dorky photo of Karl they used for the rest of the 1960s.
... but don't worry, he was criticizing YSL already:
December 6, 1966 - 2 pages of random designers being asked about making clothing out of paper...
February 17, 1977 - Yves sending a deranged "Telexed" message to Eugenia Shepard after a bad review.
