I'm not sure how I feel about this but I will admit that the images are interesting, so that's a positive at least. There's a lot going on but also not?
Not awful, but a little dull and random. Also the grass set in the industrial setting is beyond pretentious and very much giving me a recycled Raf Simons-esque runway set vibe.
I also find it a little dull and uninspiring. Everything is too pristine - they all look too perfect in an annoying and boring way. There isn't enough charisma.
It's an improvement, although he will never have the same finesse as Meisel. I will give the stylists props for cleaning up the terrible and gimmicky runway styling. Wednesday Addams was not a good look.
The first two-page image is my favorite one by far. It has such an arresting quality about it.
The others look almost like outtakes. There seems to be no focus, no direction. The clothes are too monotone, so they don't stand out. There are so many models in each shot and in most of them, nobody really gets a starring role - and even if they do, it's not powerful enough. And finally, I'm more interested in the flowers than anything else going on. I had a higher expectation for the campaign based on the first image.
Stick a Calvin Klein 250xdde14583622 logo on it you won't find any difference between this and Raf's ulter pretentious campaigns for CK (which killed the brand)
You could think it's a Coach or Longchamp ad. So underwhelming, it's sad, a bit like Burberry. Gucci, Chanel, LV did a great job at appealing to the millennial market without losing their identity or looking desperate but Burberry, Prada and others don't seem to know what they're doing. Maybe it will work, I guess we'll have to look at the numbers.
In magazines, the campaign looks so much like Dior x Raf Simons. That cold, clinical vibe is all the more apparent.
So far I've only seen Freja's one, and that Berit girl.
