At this point one can really predict most of the reactions here to the latest Prada show, it's literally the same comments every season no matter what those two send out - and it's been a lot, from psychedelic knits and clunky boots in their second joint season, "flying" dresses with satin mules from Fabio's final show, to the everything-and-the-kitchen-sink algorithm collection. The complaints about the coldness of it all and the cries for the sexiness and humour of 0ld Prada (with the obligatory remark that Miuccia's outfit was the only good one, even though sometimes it's literally a variation of something that was shown minutes before, or just last season

) are making me think some of y'all weren't following the brand very carefully before Raf joined - and I don't even see him as the ultimate successor. Have you ever seen F/W 2015 with boys wearing almost only uniform-style pieces in black and the girls getting odd mod shapes in acidic hues? Or the severity of F/W 2008, it all being constrictive and strict af even though it was all lace? Or the actual old(er) Prada, which today's show is actually leaning onto, from the pared-back set/soundtrack to the collection itself.
Personally, I enjoyed how it progressed from the rather uninviting opening two looks into an updated take on early '00s Prada with all the bra tops, intentionally-off color combos, puffed-out puff shapes, costume jewelry and of course many great shoe & skirt options, probably the items Prada is most known for in the fashion circles. And while I root for more jazziness in the future (and a successor other than Raf, yes), I honestly don't think it's the right moment for a crazy printed banger or an escapist fantasy many seem to be yearning for.
