Prince Harry says sorry for Nazi gaffe

I know this sounds mad to some but I don't even think he's of royal blood

But seriously, the Royals are so screwed up, I don't have much respect for them, I'd prefer it if we were a Republic.

Just an idea, don't all shout at once, thought it was worth mentioning.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions.

I can so imagine that set throwing a party like that. harry was an idiot for participating. private party or not, he is old enough to be aware of the consquences of irresponsible gestures.

though with that said, I think he's apologised enough. he said he was sorry...he can't really do more than that. now what he needs to do is get his act together and grow up. :ermm:

I'm so bored of this topic now, lol.

Ok, people say it was tasteless yet, we have comedies such as 'Allo 'Allo and John Cleese imitating Nazi's. Hell, comedians imitate Nazi's and everyone finds that hilirious.

Apparently, a Nazi uniform is also one of the most bought outifts in fancy dress shops.

Yes, I know what Harry did was stupid, ridiculous and I don't know why he even thought of it - but millions of people around the world do it too.

I see it no different from when Americans were dressing up as Osama Bin Laden (or however you spell it) at Halloween or that KKK incident by some President's kid.

He's said he is sorry and that he made a stupid mistake. Why can't people forgive him for that?

Holocaust survivors and the Jewish Board forgives him, so why can't the rest of the world.

I just feel sorry for him. For his whole life he has been picked on my the press and by the public cos he isn't seen to be as perfect as William.

Forgive and forget, thats what I say. He's learnt his lesson.

I agree with most of this but prince harry is third in line to the throne in a constitutional monarchy and so he can't afford to make the same mistakes as everyone else. thats supposedly why the taxpayers pay for all their personal secretaries & advisers. he needs to set an example. he has that burden of responsibility in exchange for the priviledges he enjoys. thats the deal he was born into just like some people are born into absolute poverty - i'd say its not to difficult a deal to deliver on.....

i do feel sorry for him - he has had no mother in his formative years so he is probably a mixed up young man.

No, that wasn't the theme of the party. It was 'coloniel' and something else....I can't remember

the theme was "Natives and Colonials". nice.

 i have german relatives who lost people they knew and where friends with... and mum knows a lady who escaped the concentration camp... he has opened up a big b***dy wound... think of everyone who wanted to put this behind them... i dont think he cares and i think he has gone to far

I just read where his father Prince Charles has ordered Harry to visit the death camp at Auschwitz. This was at the invitation of the jewish group.

agreed, the kid is a ******. first he does drugs, gets in a car accident, punches a guy trying to take his picture, and now he's being beyond disrespectful. smaaaart kid, very smart.

i dont care if he apologizes, he won't be forgiven foe being such a dumb***.

all hail prince harry!!! NOT.

wills

william was with harry when they bought their costumes. wills saw harry choose the nazi [rommels afrika korps garb if youre a militarist/historian]

harry looks amazingly like james hewitt. i can imagine hewitt is the father. diana confessed to having little or no sex with charles from wills' birth onward.

given the upcoming auschwitz @ 60 commemoration, harry will NOT be visiting before then as his recent costume antics controvert the meaning of that liberation aniversary.

am i the only one who thinks the wholme story is ridiculous.
for heavens sake: he was at some private party dressed up with a uniform that shows off the swastika.as bad as it may sound its just an "outfit" and not the end of the world.
its not worth talking about it all over the news and have as headlines "harry the nazi" (thats even worse than what he has done IMO)
if i were him i wouild not have apologized. i would have explained myself and would have sued the paper that called me a NAZI....

I agree. Yes the Nazi wear stands for something bad, but its a costume and its not like thats the only offensive costume. I know it offends some people what he did I understand....Nazi tore my family apart, but I'm not getting butthurt at his costume:huh: .... hes just being Harry, good choices, bad choices I think its stupid how we talk about him so much

outfits

I think its quite ironic that people here get all worked up over lindsay lohan's clothes, or the simpson singers, and then think its OK for a member of the english royal family to be prancing around in a nazi uniform. Its definitely not OK.

hey I love sundry military dress as much as the next neatly-pressed clothing historian, but to wear a nazi uniform, when your family is the queen of england, with the 60th anniversary of auschwitz' liberation coming up, is one of the stupidest cultural/fashion gestures I have ever seen.

and some people here think its just dandy?? harry is a rebellious idiot to buy the outfit - with his brother's consent- to wear it at an event & get photographed in it.

hey, if youre a closet nazi, fine, goosestep at home while listening to heino and hitler rallies in your uniform. I am the last person to go 'politically correct' as far as individual political views. but no intelligent or sensitive person leaves his dressing room and attends a party & gets photographed in nazi regalia. Especially if youre third in line to england's throne.

i cant believe some people here are numb to how stupid & insensitive this gesture is by harry. Its an obvious acting out of juvenile, stupid rebellion, especially coming on the heels of his horrible year of substance abuse & violence. he's a moron & it reflects horribly on his country's royal family & thankfully a hundred million people around the world understand this.

would the bush twins dress up in KKK robes and have a little tailgate party in texas? of course not. even those dotty 2 blobs know better. and their minders would not permit it even if they tried. getting wasted at yale is one thing. donning racist garments and leaving your home is something else.

seriously, calm down for just a moment here:rolleyes: i know that was a real dumb asinine thing to do,being a prince, (but then again i wonder how many other non famous people have worn this and gotten away with it:ninja: ) and all but to say that he'll never or wont be forgiven, there are worse things in the world that has happened, that goes to anyone else as well

german crosses

actually brian jones iof the rolling stones caused quite a 'fuhrer' in the 1960s when he wore a nazi officer's outfit in england.

suffice to say prince harry doing the same in 2005 is quite different, and worse.
appearances mean a bit more coming from the royal family than from a controversially degenerate albeit brilliant rock star.

also harry was trying to clean up after sundry substance abuse & violent episodes in 2004.

honestly i know this hit a raw nerve with many but i think its way overblown. so he dresses a nazi... so what? yah, the kid was insensitive, but considering he's a Windsor, who aren't really known for being polically correct, is it that shocking?? honestly who cares?? yeah he's third in line but everyone knows the monarchy is a joke. they hardly hold any water anymore... the monarchy is just symbolic right now...its the GOVERNMENT who runs the country...the royals are insignifcant...and i don't forsee the British monarchy existing in another 50 years to be frank...

and all this endless spec about who is diana's son's daddy has got to stop...
