Proenza Schouler S/S 06 New York

I like a few of the blouses very much, and I'm fond of the colours for the most part... It's not brilliant but I definitely do like it.

I really like the second and third looks in post #2, and the shoes, and I love the curtain tassles as neckalces.

With the exception of the one on top in post #2, which I  , the rest are 'eh'.
Also, the sleeve lengths are kind of weird...the short are too long and the long are too short and I'm pretty sure it's not intentional.

I like this a lot. It is creative, but there are definitley some wearable pieces. Some of the proportions may not be wearable for normal women, but I think for some women the combination of the high waist and more fabric around the hips would create an hourglass shape.

im really not liking it. it doesnt seem springy, and its too busy. i miss their clean bustiers

Its A Nice Collection. Some Of It Is Not Great But The Lighter Colour Looks Are Really Cool
And True, One Of The Best Of The Week So Far....until I Show On Wednesday........

Hmmm...I feel a storm approaching as I actually kind of like this :ninja:

However, not falling into their trap yet....it looks like a blatant rip-off of Rochas.

Not my cup of tea. Some of the proportions are not right.
CharlottefromCA, thanks for posting :)
same here caffeine ;)

it is as if they've been trying far too hard to get 'interesting' and 'forward' but ending up 'ackward'

..and i had enough of empire lines and shiny/metallic fabrics.. mercy please :ninja:

i really like the looks on luca and kim noorda, but i agree that some of the proportions are a little off......

meh....this season's ok, i dunno... they don't look very 'spring/summer' IMO,

but i have to admit i really like this:flower:

It's straight out of "The Age of Innocence" or some such period drama. Not interesting for me at all. Like Lena said, too much metallic and empire-waist, even though some of the detail work are nice. I'm surprised, seeing how they took some risk to streamline their design to present an edgier collection last fall, this seems a step backwards. Maybe the rich socialites aren't ready to give up their "play dressing up" yet for those theme charity balls and award nights.

My view on the proportion thing is the guys were being playful ... I think it's clear they're not incompetent (even if we'd never seen their work before) since the proportions of some looks are perfect. I think alot of the pieces from the "awkward" looks are perfectly wearable if you split them up (which I would anyway, don't like to wear more than one piece of a label at a time), take the belt off or don't cinch it so tight, etc.

My other thought is, especially in this pretty terrible fashion week, anything that's beautiful should be praised, even if it's imperfect, and I feel there are quite a few moments of real beauty and inspiration in this collection.

i like this.....age of innocence? more 1900's i see ladies at the parisian races back then ( minus the bustle) but i agree with lenas comment:same here caffeine ;)it is as if they've been trying far too hard to get 'interesting' and 'forward' but ending up 'ackward'..and i had enough of empire lines and shiny/metallic fabrics.. mercy please :ninja:. end quote
i think they are trying too hard, but it will def sell easily!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh is anyone else surprised abot this victoriana themernning through fashion, it is almost like every designer is drooling over american history!!!!

Oh god, that´s such a major disappointment on first sight... I would have expected more from them... this just screams out "frou-frou" with all the ruffles, puff-sleeves and little blouses ...

As long as the real women are real tall and real skinny, I foresee absolutely no problems ;)

you definitely got the point... who´s going to be able to wear these clothes? unless you´re super tall and super skinny, you´re not going to look good in those proportions - which are indeed new but from which the *real* Proenza Schoulder customer can wear only very few things... This length of skirt for sure only works if you wear sky-high stilettos and if you´ve got a certain height. I´m also getting tired of pencil skirts but that´s just my personal thinking.

Well, we´ll see. I´ve got the pleasure to see this all in person shortly, I hope it surprises me somehow when I have a closer look.

*What* a gorgeous interpretation of Victorian/Edwardian.

I don't know about that to be honest. Some of it is hardly an interpretation at all, it's so "literal". It looks like a display of costumes for a BBC drama, with a bit of chintz thrown in. I usually like their clothes, but I don't see this at all. I'm probably not up on current goth/victoriana etc type trends though!

I didn´t see it from an edwardian/victorian point of view... for me this is basically mexican/latin-american influences, with the fabrics, ruffles, off-the-shoulder peasent blouses etc.
