Can someone explain to me why the D&G ones are offensive. I don't really see anything wrong with them?!

The Dolce & Gabbana ads are very not-provocative compared to S. Klein's other stuff.

let's try to get on topic here and steer away from political discussion...

please take the conversation to PM if you wish to continue...

Ok, let me just explain that I was sarcastic when I used the words hick and low-class. I just read it again, realized it came across pretty strange...this is a complicated issue that we shouldn't discuss here anyway. :flower:

I think that one is kind of vulgar, I mean there is not a reason to show his penis hahaha

^^You're right there is no reason for that other than provoking a reaction and extra publicity.:innocent:

^But I feel like most "provocative/offensive" ads are for that purpose.

The Dolce and Gabbana ads I posted were definietly provocative because of the poses and positioning of the camera, whether it['s offensive or not is debateable and depends on the person, I personally don't think it is but I can see how some people might think so.

Katherine and I have the same interpretation of the FCUK ad "Guarenteed" right above a word that is very close to the F word.

regarding the ysl ad...
it's definitely a ploy for attention and shock value...

clearly it worked because we're still talking about it years later :p

I find nothing provocative or offensive about the YSL ad. We're constantly bombarded with imagery of the female anatomy, and yet a man's penis is so shocking? It's a body part, nothing outrageous considering that over 3 billion people on the planet have one :p

well yeah there's nothing wrong about it but the picture doesnt look artisitic it looks kind of vulgar like they are just focusing on the penis haha

Now this is an ad for a Citroen car, running in the UK, but I don't know if it's shown on mainland Europe -

I was taken aback the first time I saw it, I mean, they don't mention Hitler by name - and it could be argued that a lot of the symbols are from a period in German history before that time - but I wonder if the average British person is going to be aware of that. Are people are going to watch this, hear Wagner and think it's a comedy based on the Third Reich?

I can see that the point of the ad is to reinforce the idea that a French car can have the renowned excellence of German design, so the twist works - but at what cost?

they don't show it in germany:D
