OMG!!! I used to love him, I thought he was hot! This is just shocking

I just heard about this... it always scares me when young people, like Brad and Anna Nicole, just drop dead.

I know it's always a shock....
and we don't yet know the cause of Brad's death....
but Anna Nicole would still be alive and well if not for her habits.
I fear the same with Brad.:(

If he did OD I can only hope it's a wake up call to others struggling like him.
It's so tragic to loose people in a preventable way.

For some reason, I thought he already WAS dead :( Seemed like those child actors with tragic fate written all over him.

RIP.

Ill remember him for his good times ... like when he did his interview for E! -sporting a bread- when "Apt pupil" came up

*drools*

Oh.My.GOD.

The CRUSH of my youth. Apt Pupil, Tom & Huck, Sleepers, The Client, Telling Lies in America.... I watched them all. I FORCED all my schoolmates to watch Sleepers. Like everyone in my whole year.
But you could see the difference in Ghost World and Bully. It wasn't the same Brad anymore.

I feel shaken.

^^ Me too. It's very sad.

Renfro autopsy planned for Thursday

Mel Melcon / Los Angeles Times

LAPD officers arrest actor Brad Renfro during a 2005 drug sting on skid row that targeted prospective buyers.

Friends of actor Brad Renfro have told L.A. County coroner's investigators that he was drinking before his death Tuesday, but authorities said they are still trying to determine how the 25-year-old died.

FOR THE RECORD:
Earlier versions of this article stated that the autopsy is scheduled for Friday. The coroner plans to perform the autopsy on Thursday.

Coroner's officials said they plan to perform an autopsy on Thursday and continue to interview people who knew Renfro, who had a history of drug problems.

Renfo's body was found in his Los Angeles apartment, in the 1000 block of South Ogden Drive, by his girlfriend, authorities said. Renfro was declared dead by paramedics at 9 a.m., according to coroner's spokesman Ed Winter.

"There is no suspicion of foul play," LAPD Lt. David Evans said.

Renfro's former attorney, Blair Berk said Tuesday: "Brad was a really gifted young man. It is a tragedy all the way around."

Renfro, a native of Tennessee, began acting in skits for the anti-drug group DARE at his school. He got his big break when producers of "The Client" -- the film adaptation of the John Grisham novel -- conducted a national search to find a fresh face to play the role of a boy who encounters danger after he overhears a conversation about a murder. Renfro appeared opposite Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones in that 1994 movie.

In 1998, Renfro won the lead role opposite Ian McKellen in "Apt Pupil." He appeared as a convenience store clerk with Scarlett Johansson and Steve Buscemi in 2001's "Ghost World."

Despite the promising start to his acting career, Renfro was known for his legal troubles. In the late 1990s, he was arrested for trying to steal a yacht in Florida. In December 2005, he was picked up by LAPD officers during an undercover drug sweep of downtown's skid row. Police had taken a Times reporter and photographer along during the sweep, and a photo showing Renfro being arrested by two officers was featured on the paper's front page.

Renfro told a detective who arrested him that he was using heroin and methadone. He ultimately went into a drug rehabilitation program and pleaded guilty to the attempted possession of heroin. Renfro was sentenced to three years' probation.

^ When was his 25th birthday? Someone must have sat and made that quite recently.

I don't think anyone is holding their breath for the coroner. We all kind of know what happened.

My friend said, "don't be too sad, it is better this way. He'd have had a miserable life". And I guess that is why the world works the way it does.

He was a crush of mine too, when I was younger. Such odd news... stuff like this always is. It feels like it shouldn't be so sad, but it is.

Oh my god. I was not expecting to read this today! :(

He was an amazing actor, especially in Apt Pupil.

So sad.

he's actually very talented.

... the most talented are always the most destructive.

I think it so sad. After reading more about how he had little parental involvement and long term drug abuse made me really feel sad for him...

I really loved him in the movie Bully.

Terribly shocked and saddened by this news. The man could act. I loved him in Bully and The Client. With this though I feel as if that for his major and minor fans, he's our little secret and he's gonna live on through his work.

He was a great actor. My condolences to his family and friends. And may he finally rest in peace - free from anguish.

I was also shocked...reminds me of when i found out Jonathan Brandis (child TV and movie actor) attempted and eventually died of suicide back in 2003. I remember watching both of them growing up...pretty unfortunate.

he will be in a movie coming out later this year called The Informers, based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel (this author also wrote Less than Zero, Rules of Attraction, and other stories about the overdrugged/sexed/nihilistic superprivileged...so the role may be a tragic foreshadowing--like how Queen of the Damned made me cringe when Aaliyah's character dies...eeehh).
