This makes me so sad. I was hoping he'd get over the drugs and get his life together. RIP.
 
How ironic that his first acting gig was for an anti-drug organisation.

His story is really classic Hollywood though. Actors drop dead or just mysteriously 'disappear' left and right in this town. Sometimes it happens to 'names' so it makes the press, but mostly we never hear about it.
I really think for an actor in this town, survival depends on the quality of their entourage: people like Joaquin Phoenix would be dead by now if they hadn't a great machine being them.

He was an amazing actor, i'll always remember him, RIP Brad
 
This is really terrible of me but I wish it had happened to one of the other troubled child stars. The Edward Furlongs of the world. Hell, any other child star - JTT anyone. Because I remember when my life revolved around Brad Renfro and I don't want to have to think about this. Even though I shouldn't be bothered by it, I dont think you can not be in the celebrity age. And of course we who remember him ten years ago, do not remember the troubled, probably not very nice, adult he became. We remember this child. A child who caught our eyes when we were children ourselves. Horrible. Horrible.

i just read that he was the only child... poor familly.... and he was raised by grandmother... i think i am about to cry....

I think I was nuttyest about Brad circa 1998. My friends didn't really get it. I used to write essays on Sleepers and Apt Pupil. Sleepers kind of went boring when Brad Renfro morphed into Brad Pitt. I was looking around the internet and all these sane women are totally just regressing back a decade. One woman was like 'I'm so embarrassed but I used to write fan fiction' and another was like 'Devon Sawa is probably pissing himself right now' and... just so much stuff. There is this whole generation of girls who just DUG him.

It would be easier to post photos if bradrenfro.org hadn't crashed with all the extra traffic.

i really don't feel like posting them, cos i just find all this truely sad... i am 25. and when i was in puberty phase one of billion, i always dreamed of having a boyfriend for holding hands, who would be like him!!! :p
 
I don't think obsessions are necessarily healthy but I think you can learn stuff from them.

Sleepers was such a big part of my childhood, I think it cemented my general dislike of harsh prison systems. I mean it was only juvie but prisons must be worse. As well as my dislike for any sort of capital punishment.

Brad taught me about Led Zepp. In the Client, when he tells Susan Sarandon that Kashmir is their best song. He wasn't wrong!

Brad taught me about Frankie Valli & The Four seasons. I used to listen to 'Walk Like A Man' endlessly and imagine hanging out in new york city, hell's kitchen in the heat.

He made me go to Hell's kitchen. It isn't really bad anymore.

I read the Different Seasons Steven King quartet because of him. I didn't really like it but hey. I remember my friends were freaked out by some of the sexual scenes in the Apt Pupil book.
