R.I.P. Heath Ledger

I agree. I was watching one of those entertainment shows and I had to turn it off cuz they kept making it sound like he was a troubled soul with a big drug problem who wanted to die. Totally making stuff up just to get people to watch. It was sickening. I truly believe it was an accident.

i don't wanna be all rumor causing and all, but just wanted to point out that you can have "everything" and still be depressed, drug addicted, or suicidal. have children unfortunately is not always a deterrent... i don't mean to act like i know anything about why he died, just saying :flower:

I can only think of what a private guy he was.
I imagine the media circus surrounding all this would make him cringe.

He would most certainely HATE it.All this media frenzie is going of hand.
Heath had spoken a few times about hating to be a celebrity, being watched all the times, have snap pix taken of his little girl and Michelle.
Perhaps I'm wrong but the aussie media seem more descent on how they deal with this painfully story - and hopefully, also in respect to Heath's love ones. (who are probably having a hard timing over coming their pain.I don't even know how you can explain "death" to a two years old).

Johnny Depp to remplace Heath Ledger

Johnny Depp to Replace Heath Ledger

Thu, 24 January 2008

Johnny Depp is poised to replace tragic Heath Ledger in his latest film role, reports UK’s the sun.
Heath, who was found dead Tuesday in New York, was six weeks away from finishing fantasy flick The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Now director Terry Gilliman wants his pal Johnny to film the remaining scenes.
A studio source said: “There is a point in the film when Heath falls through a magic mirror. He could change into another character after that and that is where Johnny would come in.
“It’s a weird, fantasy, time-travel movie so Heath’s character could easily change appearance. It would be a poignant moment.
Johnny’s not working at the moment so everyone is praying he will do it.”

Keri Russell pays her respects to Heath Ledger
Waitress star Keri Russell chats on her cell phone while grabbing a cup of early morning coffee at The Nascent Cafe in Brooklyn on Wednesday.
Later in the afternoon, Keri, 31, stopped by Michelle Williams‘ Brooklyn home to pay her condolences for Heath Ledger.
“It was very sweet,” an eyewitness tells Intouch. “Keri walked up and handed a card to a police officer. She asked him to give it to Michelle’s mom before walking away silently.”

^ I hope that's true about Johnny Depp. I can't think of any other actor who can do justice to Heath's character.

TMZ has a clip of Danny Day Lewis talking about Heath on Oprah...

I:heart: Daniel SO Talented, I bet Heath admired him

and Michelle bathing suit looks hideous in that pic

I noticed that once she and Heath broke up, she starting smiling in pics with the razzies...

I guess like Timberlake girls, she took on his I hate the razzies attitude, until the breakup..:innocent:

Johnny Depp would be perfect in that role.

^actually the Gemma relationship was confirmed by Gemma's sister, who said she was hanging out with him in Australia when he was here for xmas..

Yeah she implied they were friends but didn't say they were seriously dating. I just don't want to make assumptions, out of respect to him.

Is anyone still waiting for someone to say April Fool's or something? I still can't believe that one of my favourite actors died.
It was so unexpected and shocking that I'm still waiting for someone to say it's a joke...

me too. i'm still in shock it's just so...sudden and unexpected i mean he wasn't a druggie or anything he was nice funny charismatic and suddenly it's like bam he's not alive anymore. and i'm sad for his family it's so hard when someone you really love passes away so suddenly. and im sad for his baby daughter who'll never really get to know her father and will only have memories of him from watching his movies :'(

I'm still recovering from the shock. Heath was one of the few actors that I truly respected and liked. Rest in peace, Heath.

However, the appalling behavior of the media just makes me cringe. Especially when I turn on the TV and the entertainment news shows won't stop making speculations (about his will) about him or anyone connected to him. Don't they understand the concept of respecting the dead?:(

^There's so many rumors about who he was dating now. There's Gemma, MK, Helena (she says she was on her way to see him). Maybe he was just good friends with them all. No one has confirmed any of these relationships so I wouldn't assume any to be true.

LOL! media is trying to put strings of women Heath's been with shortly before his death. but funnily enough, he's been reported "how exhausted, drained, sleepless nights" he's been having because of working nonstop. there all hogwash.

this is the movie Heath was co-starring with Lily Cole...

I know, it is still such a shock. Just terrible, terrible news, and a great loss to Australia's cultural industry. I refuse to pay attention to any of the tabloid media surrounding his death.

LATEST NEWS...

Heath's wake/memorial will be held Friday 1/25 in NYC...

... his body will be flown to Los Angeles for another memorial

... then he will be flown back to Australia for burial

So they are sending him home, that's good but of course sad. I hope Matilda gets to spend alot of time in her dad's native because it seems like a cool place.

The Heath Ledger/Nick Drake Connection

Actor claims obsession with Drake, simulates suicide on 2007 video to Drake's music The already startling death of actor Heath Ledger has taken on another startling dimension following the revelation that Ledger courted a self-proclaimed obsession with another tragic figure, late English folk singer Nick Drake. This obsession even manifested itself in a Drake music video.

"I was obsessed with an artist by the name of Nick Drake," Ledger explained at a September 2007 Venice Film Festival press conference [via MTV.com]. Ledger was promoting I'm Not There at the time, in which he plays Bob Dylan, along with several other actors and actresses.

"I was obsessed with [Drake's] story and his music and I pursued it for a while and still have hopes to kind of tell his story one day. But it kind of died away, faded away, because I...He was a very mysterious figure and I felt like I would be taking too many liberties."

The body of 28-year-old Ledger was found yesterday (January 22) in a Manhattan apartment. Since sleeping pills were found nearby, Ledger's death was widely reported as being most likely drug-related. However, according to the Associated Press, an autopsy performed today proved inconclusive, and TMZ.com reports that Ledger had pneumonia at the time of his death.

Drake, meanwhile, died in 1974 at the age of 26 from an apparent overdose of the antidepressant amitriptyline.

Ledger created a black-and-white video clip that was shown at a pair of exhibits devoted to Drake last year, according to MTV.com and Billboard.com reports.

As the MTV.com report explains, "A representative for Drake's estate described the 'gorgeous' and 'extremely moving' clip as a stark black-and-white composition, consisting mainly of the director turning the camera on himself. In the end, Ledger is seen drowning himself in a bathtub."

The song playing during this is Drake's "Black Eyed Dog", purportedly the last song the English singer ever wrote and allegedly a reference to Winston Churchill's description of depression.

The estate of Nick Drake, which owns the Ledger video, has not yet decided whether to release it.
