Racial Diversity In Modeling

So i have a feeling that this year will see a spike in black models/celebs getting Vogue covers. Does anyone know what year had the most women of colour on Vogue(s)?

So far:

January:
Vogue Japan - Jourdan Dunn

February:
Vogue Brasil - Jourdan Dunn
Vogue Portugal - Naomi Campbell

March:
Vogue Espana - Aya Jones

April:
Vogue UK - Rihanna
Vogue Mexico - Ysaunny Brito
Vogue US - Rihanna

Does anyone know if a black model has ever gotten a solo commercial/campaign for a cosmetics brand? I'm looking and I can't really find anything. They are usually only in group commercials/shots from what I can tell.

Jourdan has a solo Maybelline campaign on a bus stop near my house in Perth, I drive past it every day

Am I going blind or is there actually a diversity going on in Milan?

I thought the same! I'm pleasantly surprised about this. I thought Missoni for example had a beautiful, inspired casting.

^what a passive response from her. Also, now we know theyre only doing it to please the masses, its not genuine at all.

^ Shows of NYFW that have been pretty diverse from what I remember: Tom Ford, Brandon Maxwell, Ralph Lauren

Most shows only have 1 or 2 Asian models in their lineup, or none (like Victoria Beckham). The Row by the Olsen twins was 100% white.

Interesting to note that Marc Jacobs, who has been accused of racism hundreds of times in the past few days, had one of the most diverse shows at fashion week.

Doesn't excuse his ignorant response to the backlash.

Odd that Tome isn't included in that diversity list.

Also, where Marc f*cked up is not on the runway (because let's face it, we'd probably never see a runway from him where WOC were the majority and while the locks were unsettling, 'cultural appropriation' isn't something new in this inustry) but in his response like miwa said. He displayed dismissive ignorance to defend his stupidity. He's an idiot.

What was so offensive about dreadlocks?!

Honestly, everybody is offended by everything these days.

I only included shows that showed diversity in A-list casts  The Tome cast did not include any white models of prominence.

His response is what was offensive, or did you miss that part?

An editor said when she went backstage and saw the hair prior to the show, her heart sank because she knew the firestorm that was about to come. (forgot her name/publication).

I personally wasn't offended by the dreadlocks, more disappointed in the cast. I was, however, offended by his stupid a** remarks.

Seriously, social media has been a gift and a curse to celebrities. He definitely made a huge misstep by responding to commenters.

So basically your list isn't an accurate representation of diversity then.....?
