RAF by Raf Simons S/S 2006 review

Obviously the RAF line just a repeat of all his previous old trick in a low cost production.

I really love Raf work but I think this Raf line is a deal with the corperate who backing him up (Prada group) for 'fund raising'. I am looking forwards of his work on Jil line.

That´s completely incorrect, the whole production is made in Italy, Raf simons had only been hired to design the Jil Sander collection, Prada didn´t buy his own bsiness, so that you could speak of a corporate trick in here.

With the mainline going by far more architectural, experimental directions, this is where all the streetwise clothes will fit in. It´s true there are some "recycled pieces in the collection that have already been in the mainline several years ago, but that doesn´t make the whole thing dull... it´s just the first season, after all.

It's distilled, essence. You have to start somewhere, find what people respond to and then move it forward. But it also will allow him a bit of a clean slate with his main line as well, this could be the beginning of more than a few changes.

I really agree, to me it makes sens to put the youth oriented clothes at a lower price so young people can actually but them.

People act like he never made swet shirts or jeans before.

...Some more pictures I just wanted to share with you, I soooo love the coloured hoodies, there´s also one in a lighter, ice blue colour and a warm, washed out orange... the short coat is not pinstriped, it´s a very nice, charcoal seersucker!

Last bunch, the shirt collars are going to be smaller than what´s been shown on the samples I was told, please note the interesting texture, it´s a beautiful fabric!

Tricot, MUCH better. I am so happy there are tailored pieces in it and not just usual sweatshirt/jeans mix. The coat looks excellent - if it is tailored in the same laser precise way that his main collection ones are, I'd sold.

Faust, they had both lines in the showroom when I was there so you could easily tell if it was just a cheap knock-off production or not. I observed both mainline and secondary line blazers and there was not much difference in terms of quality. Basicially if you speak about fabrics, the mainline was a bit more sophisticated with some glazed linens and fine wools(which turned out to be last season Helmut Lang fabrics!) whereas the secondary line emphasized on basic cotton canvas/cotton seersucker.Unfortunately I can´t tell you about the fit since the sizes were 48s and there was no model available, I assume the fit is just as slim as ever, at least the jeans are, some of them had been shown in the mainline catwalk show as well.

Yupp, they are indeed red canvas jeans... I also like the rivets a lot, they are enamel coated in the same colour of the jeans, so red with red and white with white...
