I think his channeling of the futurism of s/s07's womenswear collections is really good. Actually, a lot of his trends are from previous womenswear collections, i.e. the long gloves (Givenchy a/w07-08), the oversized coats (Balenciaga a/w05-06) and obviously all the silver and rubber from the current s/s07 collections. The collection is very good, I really like it. Lots of lovely grey!

not shabby. im liking the coats and jackets and the long gloves. however..i dont like the rubber/metallic patent leather with knit, it looks rather tacky together. or it could be the camera and light...maybe it's not as shiny and clashing with the knit in life.

im actually quite liking the greys this season...though i see there are people who hate it. the various shades of greys in this collection is nice.

even better sense of the future than McQueen, actually. seems he was watching a bit of Dune,Blade Runner and the Cronenberg film Dead Ringers(the brown trench with the sleeves tucked into the gloves...)

all in all,looking very cool.

All of a sudden I am tired with all these grey shiny plastic rubber metal futuristic things. It's so cold and emotionless.

It must be after the Comme's show.

Although the clothes are technically very nice.

i agree with you nqth...especially,coming from a self-proclaimed romantic...but i really love the silhouette here. maybe my sort of uniform obsession coming through. or the fact that i love science fiction

you must admit, nevertheless, the knits are stupendously yummy looking ;)

Not as groundbreaking as last FW seemed to me, but covetable nevertheless.

i don't like the shiny material..nice concepts for outfits though

A piece by young English sculptor Conrad Shawcross revolved hypnotically in the center of Raf Simons’ show space, suggesting one of Leonardo’s visionary contraptions. As it turned out, that was a pretty good place to start thinking about Raf’s new collection. Leonardo was fascinated by the articulation of human appendages, hands and feet especially. And after today's show, Simons noted that “hands are important to create the shape of the future.” The way he chose to draw attention to this point was by kitting his models out in fierce elbow-length gauntlets that suggested protection as much as creation.

They were a jarringly futuristic counterpoint to tweeds, leathers, and knits that were just about the most traditional clothes Simons has yet created, but that was no accident. One of the designer’s aims this time was to make traditional things more contemporary. A tweed coat zippered open down its seams to reveal a nylon underlay (it suggested wings folded away, though perhaps that’s simply because Simons has often evoked angels in his outerwear). A ribbed blue-gray cardigan coat wrapped an inky Lycra rollneck. And superb woven-wool jackets in an intense midnight blue were glazed as if by starlight in deep space. They embodied the essential paradox of Raf Simons’ work: sleek futurism here, romantic melancholy there (perfectly reflected in the surging soundtrack by Icelandic electronic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson).

Like anyone who is absorbed by thoughts of things to come, Simons can only dream, but that seems to suit him fine: Sometimes it’s best that dreams don’t come true.

lovely color palette, absolutely restraint and the gloves are to die for:heart:
...however, I kinda miss his streetwear and the voluminous pieces

I absolutely love it. Thank god, no more drop shoulders and gigantically cut coats/blazer...I really love this coat.

greay again!!!
I really like the mixing of fabrics as he manages into it... this motobiker parka is cool.
i'm def. not into pointed shoes... but his are good.
some of the coats look very very good...

Beautiful, the best mens collection this season.

but the pointy shoes are horrible.

It's really nice, though I don't see it as "futurist". Take away those gauntlets and it's quite a safe collection, and a lot of designers are doing the same mix of contrasting materials. Not taking much risk like he usually does, but wearable and hard to fault...disappointing for me though, because I had high expectations
