Raf Simons, S/S 2006

In regards to wearability, I REALLY like the black suit (the cut is amazing, especially considering I can notice that from a distant shot) though I don't know about the 'volume' pants... Some of the tops seem too skeletal for my tastes, but the overall aesthetic is well put together, I just don't see me wearing but 25% of it. And of course it goes without saying that the jackets are ace.

Great pics! I'm definiitely getting one of the full, high-waist pants. A plainer fitted tee will translate better on the street level. but I've been loving the fuller pants sihouettes since his Fall collection. Hopefully it won't make me look stunted at my 5'7" stature!

As with anything, pick and choose your pieces, yes? I always have trouble wearing a designer's look that demands that you look like their runway from head to toe. At that point, your individuality disappears. I'd take Raf's (or any other designer's) aesthetic and retranslate it in my own look.

Interestingly enough, despite their advocating diaper-crotch pants for themselves, Atelier in NYC doesn't seem at all interested in the pleated full pants. Fortunately, I hear Seven NYC is buying the entire Raf Simons Fall 05 collection.

 Dammit, I really hate all of this. Neither attractive to look at in pictures, nor wearable. Just boring, sloppy-looking "clothes". Sorry to all the Raf fans.

I'm warming more and more to Raf since last season, and this also seems nice!

I'm really vegetating towards the dark 80's/Japanese aesthetics and this fits my mood...

Good point, I suppose I should have given concession to the fact that you can only really buy so much of a designer without looking tragic

Awesome.

this collection is pretty weak, I think. as usual, we won't see a lot of the runway stuff in stores, though.

i really like this collection...a lot. it made my heart go a little a flutter..and not too many menswear can do that. the first suit posted by mullet, has great proportions. the sheer suit...i wouldn't have thought. sweaters, pants, jackets...great. the cut out tops..i can appreciate them.

inspired by the words of fourboltmain: this is sick.

I'm still loving his new pants silhouette. I have been besotted with them since he showed them for Fall 05. It's the next step from the hyper-slim look championed by Dior Homme, and it feels right now. I don't necessarily like the pieces he pairs his pants with, but I never completely loved Raf as a designer anyhow. But these new pants I love, and I like the general direction of mixing volume with slim until we get used to all the volume again in mernswear silhouettes. I've seen it happening in editorials enough to know the zeitgeist is moving there, at least in part.

i'm excited for jil sander womenswear now! as long as it's as cool as this. B)

ditto, mainly i like his more conservative looks .. those shapes of the high waisted trousers are real ugly plus i really dont like the sandals either :ninja:

I love the volume and the shapes! The waists on some of the trousers are horrible, and other detailing is not so appealing either... But I love the mood!

I also agree. As much as I loved last season's collection this one does nothing for me. It's actually one of the worst menswear collections I have seen.

Thank goodness you don't have to wear any of it yeah? :p I love how we can all have such different reactions to things. Me, I can't wait to buy me some of those pants for Fall.

baklanyc, we can all have different taste and still fully respect each others personal views, this is what makes tFS forums simply adorable.. ;)
