Raf Simons S/S 2023 London | the Fashion Spot

Raf Simons S/S 2023 London

Lot of these outfits literally look like something homeless crack heads wear on Skid Row.

His own collections are suffering a bit now that he's using up his ideas first at Prada. He should've shown this collection first, prior to the womenswear show.

Nonetheless, I do always enjoy the energy of his own shows (and the lighting of his shows is always so good and identifiably Raf).

The last four looks are very Prada F/W 2007.08 but done kinda poorly. There are also faux-fur gilets…recycling Prada’s old ideas even in his namesake now?

The whole vibe of the show is close to that of early-Crystal-Castles/edgy-basement-party-dwellers from 15 years ago.

Truth be told - I really liked his previous fall collection but after seeing that none of obvious online stores as well as raf simons' own website doesn't sell any of the standout outerwear and all but overpriced 'merch', I am getting the feeling there is really no ambition at all with the show to provide a believable and wearable wardrobe proposition - Which is kind of shocking considering how plain these clothes are and how unjustified the prices are, given how unremarkable the fabrics, construction and detailing is on most of these pieces.

I don't even think Raf knew what he was trying to do with this collection. Maybe the algorithms and trend forecasters were churning out the last of what they had after being so over used this season...

Love the lighting and mood though, makes me think of Alber's Lanvin in some ways.

I wonder how much Miuccia is paying for what is evidently Raf Simons's leftovers.

I actually like the menswear but the women's is SO miserable and distracting.

Raf Simons just announced this is his last collection.

I’m very sad. He’s one of my favorite designers. Ive been buying his work since 2006 and it’s been with me for a long time. The last couple of seasons weren’t my thing. But I appreciate his voice. Perhaps Prada will have his full attention?

I hope not for Prada's sake

I should wait to find out more before speculating but my gut feeling is that business was in the red, debt was accruing, and Simons, realizing he's no longer the creative wunderkind he once was, has thrown in the towel.

It's been a downhill slope since he left JS imho.

Add to the fact that I think he's a rude, arrogant and petty c*nt, and this news comes as no great tragedy to me.

Maybe he'll focus on furniture or maybe he's at Prada full time.

I'm sure we'll know more soon.

This is kinda sad to be honest. A sad last show too. I guess the womenswear expansion didn't do much to help.

Let's hope it has a positive effect on his collections for Prada.
