When I saw the now-famous i-D cover back in 2012, my first thought was: "Wow, Raf's over."
He changed after leaving Jil Sander. Personally, I think he has lost touch with fashion and the reality of the world. I never considered him to be a grand designer – his brand has always been too simple to read for me and I do not see any kind of sophistication in his clothes – but seeing such a downfall is simply sad.
I wonder, though, what is he going to do after he's got sacked from CK? I can't imagine a company hiring him after this debacle. The fashion crowd surely won't stop buying his stuff, but I doubt there is enough people to sustain his business. (In fact, I know from internal sources that some of the past Raf's collections never even made it to production due to low demand from buyers.)
