Ranya looks dangerous lol All in black and standing in an empty street. You wonder what kind of gun she has in that bag.

She is so spontaneous in front of the camera! She makes those simple photos, sheer art.:woot:

Ranya has so much potential. She reminds me of a Twenties flapper a la Louise Brooks. So androgynous, so petite, so mischievous, childike but sexy. And SO Parisienne!

I guess Ranya was featured on part of NY mag's fashion blog as a new face and the user comments about her look are less than flattering :ninja:. Maybe part of the problem was that they used the most severe picture of her that they could find. It is unfortunate that some people can't see past the haircut and eyebrows. Despite the comments, I think her face is quite sweet (especially in #630 ), I've never gotten a scary vibe from her appearance.

Just read this post from Nymag and I agree most of the comments are painfully rude. But I think the person who wrote it is also to blame. Talking about trendiness and saying everybody will run to the hairdresser to get her bowl-cut and bleached brows is simply irrelevant. Ranya is no mainstream role model. She's a precious young woman working as high fashion model, she's there to inspire us, we're here to admire her. Plus, what the writer put in his text sounds lightyears away from Paul Rowland's vision.

Some people should stop writing about models today as if they were yesterday's supermodels who had an influence on the masses. Popularity isn't the point any longer and it's really hurting me each time I see these attempts. These people should keep writing about their usual celebs and forget about models. Ranya is neither a starlet nor a curios. She's one of the most talented models of her era but it takes to be involved in high fashion to be aware of it and fully get the point of it.

Call me an elitist if you want (as I don't want to share my passion with the rest of the world who ignores most of it) but I just feel bad seeing how Ranya got bashed for nothing on that website. She's never been overexposed, she doesn't date a fake rockstar etc.

I really wouldn't take any notice of those nasty comments, those people are very shallow in their perceptions of beauty IMO. I can accept/respect their views on Ranya's physical appearance, but their is no need for personal comments regarding a model, especially since they have probably never met her. As penny said, models these days are not role models or celebrities, they are simply unique (in many different forms beautiful) people who are trying to do their job. In my opinion Ranya is close to the epitome of a high fashion model. I can see why mainstream public don't understand Ranya's appeal, the past supermodels have heavily influenced most of the mainstream populations' perceptions of models and beauty... and Ranya is by no means a Victoria's Secret model  I didn't mean to blab on like this and hope it makes sense :)

^ you guys make great points and I agree with everything you all have said. :)
I understand people have different perceptions of what's beautiful whether it be the long, flowing hair bombshell or that gal with an edge, but geeze those comments are just horrid :ninja: I'm sure it doesn't phase Ranya, I mean with Ricardo Tisci as a supporter she only had big things ahead of her and I can't wait for her to prove to these people that being a fashion model isn't only about being busty, sexy or dating mangy rockstars. B)

actually Ranya is a classic beauty with an edgy haircut which only emphasises her beauty IMO....absolutely painfully beautiful... but haute fashion isn't supposed to be totally accessible and mainstream, just like the art world, many people see some amazing art as scribble and drivel, but their perceptions to me are just as valid, i mean art can be merely scribble and beautiful and thought provoking at the same time....

Just because she isn't conventionally "pretty" doesn't mean she's not beautiful. Her face can add SO much personality to a piece of clothing.

Well, I for my part had my problems with her haircut too but I defenitely learned to love it and I am very looking forward to see her on the runways again! Especially because I'm excited to see how Ranya (and her hair) looks with different stylings - apart from Givenchy, which we are already used to see her in now :D

Absolutely true. Yes she's trendy because of the haircut, but beyond that she's a REALLY good model for someone who's only been doing this for a few months.

guys phh please. the people who are writing these comments on that site think adrianna lima and the other VS girls are what models should look like. I dont even pay attention to those comments - its ridic.

Look what one of the silly b*tches wrote
Tell me who wouldn't rather see a Victoria's Secret model on the runway, hmmm
If only she knew.
