I searched for a thread and couldnt find one. I know individually I could get a sense of who the key clients are, but was curious if anyone could tell me who the major clientele is that are front row at the big couture shows every season that also purchase a lot of it or at least a few pieces from every collection? I think of Mouna Ayoub and Princess Marie Chantal of Greece and the women in Iran whose families are responsible for selling oil to 17 countries for example that must have a fascinating collection of couture. Could this be a consistently updated thread if there's enough replies? Please list who you can and images of them as well.

No names as to couture's biggest clients?

the only ones i can think of are tatiana sorrokko (former model and editor at vogue russia...she has alot of ralph rucci) and becca cason thrash (from houston, loves lacroix)

^yeah, I was going to say Danielle Steel. It really takes a type of person. It is incredibly decadent, so it takes more then a lot of money, it takes a mind set and a true appreciation.

^yes Daphne has a lot^
Has anyone got any pictures of these women in their couture? :flower:
Im so facinated

Also, Susan Casden... sorry I don't have any pictures though.

people who buy couture are not generally 'stars'...
they are just very very VERY wealthy women-
*or their husbands are anyway...

so even if you had the names...they wouldn't really mean much...

in fact vanity fair once called suzanne saperstein "probably the world's No. 1 consumer of haute couture."

^Please tell me she's good looking. I think couture should not be wasted on unattractive people, as shallow as it sounds.

yes i realize that buyers of couture aren't 'stars' as is evidence in my first post, as i am also aware that their husbands are the source of their income to purchase the pieces.

there really is no other forum i saw appropriate for this topic, and i dont understand what you even mean by your last remark. this IS a discussion forum for fashion, is it not?

woah---why are you angry?
i'm not...

my point is what would a list of couture clients names mean to anyone?
other than the people they are buying from?
they are not famous so you would have no idea who they are...
adn i am not sure they want us to know who they are...

from previous articles i've read couture is a pretty exclusive club...
i remember reading about the fashion director of neiman marcus-joan kaner -attending the couture week but it was only at the invitation of a magazine i believe who was covering the collections...maybe it was womens wear daily?..or W...can't remember...

but the clients were basically very private and the ateliers were very careful about respecting their privacy...

i think i also read that there are fewer than 50 couture customers left now...

* i would have thought that since the topic is about shopping/buying- it could fit in there easily...;)

i'm not angry, just a bit confused as to why you dont think its relevant discussion. its fashion. who cares if people wouldnt recognize these women's names? they wear ensembles that very few people can and its fabulous to discuss. and its not true that they aren't famous. Princess Marie Chantal? Nan Kempner? Mouna Ayoub? They've all had write-ups in fashion mags about their style. In fact I remember W did a story on the Couture Clients years and years ago when I subscribed to it, so to say their names wouldnt mean anything to anyone, that just seems like a very close-minded statement. Obviously people care and recognize some of these women otherwise there wouldnt be replies to this thread.

Now back to the discussion please.

i never said this ---so i guess you are confused......
anyway---

i don't much care....
just be careful how you use that rolly eye smiley in the future ...
some people might not take kindly to it...

NOW back to the discussion...

Yes back to the discussion :D
I watched an amazing documentary on couture. It was called 'the secret world of Haute Couture' it was really interesting, and your right its all very hush hush :ninja:
