^i konw right. as i said before, they are all inspired by each other and fashions of the past. i love lady gaga but no, she is not an originator either!

See this is the thing, Rihanna has been transforming her style over the years, but I don't think it was "out there" until last year. She went from RnB Island girl (an image that was apparently forced on her by her record label) then stylish teen (her "a girl like me" days) to her good girl gone bad look. I'm not arguing that her style was not unique before, but up until chrihanna-gate I would would not have described her style as erm.. as boundary pushing as it is now.

Take a look at the pictures for yourself. It seems as though when she went into hibernation after "the incident" and Lady Gaga began to really make her mark in the fashion world, when Rihanna came back she really began to push the style boat out.

Their styles are still different but it seems Gaga has made everyone feel the need to step their game up.

On designers she admires: “It’s clear there are definitely fewer black women in the high-fashion industry. One of the things I respected most about Gucci was that they did a print campaign with me. I’m a black girl on a fashion spread for Gucci—that was a big deal. I respect designers who aren’t afraid to go outside the box. I went to a Jean Paul Gaultier show, and I saw girls who are thicker than me, beautiful and voluptuous and different ethnicities. That made me so excited. I thought, Okay, I can work that, for sure.”

Oh my goodness where have I been!? I thought she was moving towards a darker color and all of a sudden BAM this red pops up! That definitely threw me off guard (and I'm in the dislike it side btw). Anyways, her hair, her choice I guess. I like the Elle pictures but something about the cover bothers me, perhaps it's the chunk of her cutting off the rest of her face.
