Naomi Campbell / models1 opened the show adorning a vanilla, impeccably tailored suit in her trademark ominpresence to a crowd of editors, journalists and buyers in Florence, Italy. Live feed is currently being show on "FTV".

Well, the whole show is up at firstview.com

It's kind of...boring actually. The colors, though beautiful, are very autumn looking, and I can't say I like the sort of 70's looking cut of some of the suits.

it doesn't have any of the interest or romance of last season, or any of the usually present glitz and tack that at the very least makes it fun to look at and rip apart.

I agree entirely; the menswear was bleak darling... suspicously autumn like, there were however, some gorgeous scarlet velvet trousers that were divine. I also like the shoes & scarfs, very chic. Noami wore an impressive emerald gown for the finale though, best look of the whole "mens" collection.

This is summer spring 07! i think it was somewhat bias on the venue but where the hell was the swimwear? shorts? Mr Cavalli has a lot to answer for!

This looks exactly like the fall collection to me (which really isn't a good thing). With all of this legal business surrounding him, maybe he forgot he already showed the collection six months ago?

I really like this, except for the Naomi factor...why the hell every designer who wants to revive something of the supermodel, thinks of her???
why not some other model!?
always naomi, makes me sick

about the clothes I like it, I always like Cavalli...despite what everybody thinks here...I don't mind if it's too sexy or tacky, usually he delivers nice collections, making the men and the women look beautifull...
I prefer this image for a man, rather than...for instance...hedi slimane.

^ to each hiis/her own i suppose!:innocent: i think a lot of hedi's works cant be compared with cavalli.. I think elegance and grace are as important for women as for men.. this is bland..and the styling is horrible if u ask me..bound by society and its expectations.

cavalli as usual proves himself not as a designer but rather one who sells sex and image..

^ I'd actually have to disagree with that last statement. Though Cavalli can often be criticized for questionable taste, his clothes (at least his women's collections) display a high level of craft, even if the overall effect is tacky.

I saw this in the newspaper a few days ago, and I thought it was Mens SS07...

Thank you all in advance.
I can't either...

I didnt notice the clothes.. I was too busy waiting for Naomi to come out.

no just kidding.. Honestly there really wasnt anything that made me say "wow! i'd buy that!"(the models I would)

well, here's his logic behind the whole show!

PS. i hate the high-waist trousers! they annoy me!

Roberto Cavalli

June 26, 2006
Roberto Cavalli staged his spring collection not in a theater in Milan but on the Ponte Vecchio, the bridge that is one of the most hallowed—and beloved—symbols of Florence. The decision to show early as part of Pitti Uomo rather than during Italy's official menswear week made a certain sense (the Tuscan capital is, of course, Cavalli's hometown), even if the clothes themselves occasionally seemed in danger of being overwhelmed by a sense of place. Trousers in jewel-toned velvets, a suit in midnight silk, and leather jackets embossed like antique bookbindings hinted at the riches of Florence’s Renaissance past, but modern-day Medicis would think twice about donning such outfits in the 100-degree-plus heat that dogged the city. And this was, after all, a collection destined to be worn in warm weather.

In a press conference before the show, Cavalli claimed he’d been tracking a new yen for formality among rocker buds like Lenny Kravitz, so he obliged with hypertailored jackets, nipped at the waist, and narrow trousers that ended in a small cuff just above the ankle. He also said he liked white for summer. That was good news, because it offered light relief from the autumnal shades of rust and burgundy that he otherwise favored. And the unmitigated success of the moment when Naomi Campbell sashayed over the ancient cobblestones in a white suit (an homage to front-row guest Bianca Jagger) suggested that, even though Florence was where he was born, Cavalli will always feel more at home where the jet set roam.
