Roberto Cavalli S/S 2022 Milan

Seriously, this is not even fun anymore. Someone needs to remind him that Mr. Cavalli legacy is so much more than some tacky animals prints.

The whole collection looks like it came straight out of some lousy Las Vegas stores. He has the worst taste when it come to prints. And that floral dress looks so out of place in this collection.

Might as well as give this job to Philips Plein already.

I don't know what was worse with this show, the complete lack of energy or the collection itself. Cavalli used to be tacky, but his women were full of passion and in charge of their sexuality. The lack of taste was controlled. Here, all we got was a Frankenstein made of animal prints and awkward cuts. There were some looks that were a mere shadow of the glorious past of the brand and I believe that should have been their direction from the very beginning. Instead, we got looks such as #19 that of course had to had animal print on the back.

On paper, Fausto Puglisi for Cavalli sounds amazing. However, in the reality it's just tragic.

You make it sound like an easy task! I honestly couldn't list anything in Cavalli's legacy besides tacky animal prints!.. I mean, what else is there? hot pink? gold chains? flame prints? bikini-inspired dresses?

Like Perhydrol, I've always found Cavalli to be the stuff of escorts/mafia lord wifeys with a certain sensibility towards opulence, not rapper 'anything with a logo'/I'm-out-of-shape philosophy, no, just.. things that denote a fiery and spicy approach to life and that makes you imagine there's probably some intense-looking and unapologetically vulgar decor happening at home with carpets, chandeliers and taxidermy. Most of the numbers above, despite the very Cavalli elements on the surface, at the complete opposite, I mean.. what is this?. This girl is not headed to Atlantic City, no, 'she/they' is headed to a late night, ceramics-centered 'conversation' on overcoming ancestral trauma, reclaiming your body and gender-transgressive sexuality. And overdressed like this because.. 'owning femininity', you know, ~speaking my truth~.

Yes, it's not easy. But it's not that hard if you are willing to look at all of his collections.

Cavalli himself has tried everything (rock & roll, Cheongsam, Americana, etc), a good designer will use different elements from archives and expand them further, add a new perspective into the house. This collection adds nothing new to the brand. It won't make Cavalli relevant again.

Animal prints are Cavalli's most famous asset, yes but they shouldn't be the only ones. That is like a designer that designs for Versace and only sends out Medusa or Grecian prints.

as mentioned above in various colours, this collection is awful.
But also, do these designers even THINK about who the girl is that wears Cavalli? The cast makes it look like theyre reading 032c or purple. None of these girls is going to be the star of a party, let alone go to a party. its so idiotic. Why are all designers obsessed with this extremely singular idea of 'cool'

That is how Cavalli looked before they found that slave designer who brought heavy embellished boho to the brand in 2001

Imagine how much they're gonna charge for those incredibly tacky tiger prints LOL

Who in their right mind would ever even buy that? Where do you wear it? What do you wear with it? I've got so many questions.

I remember Puglisi made his name with those tacky ADR costumes but never know that he is such a terrible designer with the lowest taste level. Instead of capturing the brand's sexuality(the Cavalli women are very sexual, confident, and seductive) and sensuality(sometimes I think there was still a small dose of elegance in Mr. Cavalli's work), he went for the extreme vulgarity. Those garish animal prints really take this collection to another level to sabotage this brand and easily make it the trashiest brand of this new decade.

Where do I start? This is all over the place and so many looks need to be edited out. There are like 3 different collections here but none of them fully realized. His use of animal print is atrocious and you don't have to use animal print because it's Cavalli. It makes me think he doesn't understand the DNA of the brand.

The styling is bad. Cavalli never really tried to be "cool". There was a confidence in the extravagance and glamour of his propositions. I can't imagine that he would have styled those clunky sandals on the women's looks and neither would the Cavalli woman. That's not what you really go to Cavalli for.

That tiger head embellishment needs to be burned because it's used in a very cliche way throughout.

I think the pleated pants and jacket with feather embellishment is actually pretty fabulous but that belt and bralette ruin the look.

The pumps with every look lead me to believe the rumor that the being a limited budget for their collections is true. They need to hire a talented accessories designer to do shoes and jewelry, could be a great market for Cavalli.

It sad what happened to this brand. Also, people love to compare Cavalli and Versace but they were always VERY different.
