In a photo studio in a pretty rough neighborhood on the far side of town, Roland Mouret will be burning the midnight oil tonight, putting the final touches on what should be a very refined collection, despite his surroundings. It’s an exciting time at the house, partially because there will be an actual house for the label to call home. Mouret has found a beautiful old Victorian building in the center of London where he’ll base his headquarters and, come February, open a shop on the ground floor. He’s just launched Mr. by Roland Mouret, his men’s collection. And—drumroll, please—he’s bought back the rights to his name, something he’s quite pleased about, naturally.

But tonight isn’t the time for celebration. No, not quite yet. Mouret still has about 12 hours to go before he takes his post-show bow tomorrow morning, and in the meantime he’s focused and intent on the task at hand—draping and pinning a one-sleeved jade-green dress. His fans will thank him for it later.

Honestly I didn't really like the collection, it felt a bit loose and sloppy. Roland Mouret in my eyes is a designer who makes a woman embrace her curves in a beautiful structured dress, and not send her to a party looking like a distorted sack.

Here is a preview of the collection, you can see the whole collection on www.nowfashion.com

Where are his trademark bodycon dresses?
It doesn't look very good

I guess you can't blame him for trying to grow and move his line forward, but for me, the essence of what I loved about RM is lost. The silouettes, which have been adopted by VB as her own, are no longer here and I really don't like anything else he has to offer.

i so love this!!! the dresses are fantastic, i want all of them!

He needs to return to his roots...that whole origami look. I see it a little here, in the neckline and shoulders...but I loved when every item looked like specially folded pieces of paper

^ I agree. Extremely solid collection, but it blurs into it appearing too safe and uninspired...

Kinda looks Lanvin past season revisited especially last black satin dress

interesting that at the moment he bought back the rights to his name -- roland by any other name is still roland, no? -- that he put out collection that lacked some of the edgy signatures we've come covet from this designer. the flowiness and the ease of this collection reminded me other spare designers who took on this charge, but i can't help but think his folded, structured, hard-edged uppitiness would've looked right again.

with that said, i bet these clothes will look fantastic hanging in a new store....

You realize Roland is a brilliant and a smashing designer when you have a close view of his garments. His work is more about darts and patterns so it makes a very different finished. Is not as evident as others.
