Haider Ackermann S/S 11 Paris

i hate to be one of those posters that just write "LOVE LOVE LOVE" without reason or explanation, but haider seriously operates at the tip-top level of fashion so much so that he's not only thrown right into the middle of it, but he stands so far apart. it's not just the reference points here, but it's this sense of the regal that comes through in each of these garments. it's this whirlwind sweeping up the future, the past, the east, the west, the royal, the street, and it comes out gorgeous.

^^Excellent post. His work is so confident and so sure of itself. I love it.

This collection is so breathtakingly gorgeous. It's literally perfect.

This was a beautiful gorgeous show, so elegant and the grace and pace with which it was executed matched the clothes so well. It was a brilliant show and collection that stays in my mind more than many.

I'm glad to see he has found a way to temper the pyjama-esque silk tops and pants from his Florence presentation here - Those satins and stripes look a lot better used in smaller doses, and the vibrant colour combinations (a trend I didn't see presented on other runways with much accomplishment) come up very effortless and calmer on his runway than in other shows.

In any case, I am frustrated to see that the one major problem with Haider's clothes remains; a lot of his silk tops and dresses hardly cover the body or are held in place by the tiniest of spaghetti straps that do not only give the impression, but would actually easily fall off the body when worn. And what is a woman going to do with a sash that hangs down to the floor from the back of her camisole? As catchy as some of these details look like on the runway (and I really find it to be very well styled, similarily to the way Melanie Ward would have done for Helmut Lang), I am often left disappointed when you break a Haider Ackermann collection down into separate pieces hanging in stores - It becomes evident then that they don't have the same strength as those by his competitors, Ann Demeulemeester or Rick Owens.

the black outfit with the thin stripes striked me out as instant love
> you see it, you love it
then the whole collection is delightful
I'm so impressed by the ability to work on opposite forces and creating something that convincing out of it... pure love

kudos to haider scoring the cover look of march vogue on a pretty major celebrity...
