he's a genius...
he did one show where he used all redheads...
my fave collection of his was called 'woman of the forest'...
all his designs are quite romantic---
they remind me of shakespeare---romeo and juliet---
also- his colour palette was very sophisticated...
deep rich complex colours and textures in his work...
i stil have some tops that i got on a trip to paris in 1992
they are like tube tops but there is a panel attached that wraps around and around your torso and then there are two buttons so you can fasten the end of the wrap.
he did this in mesh and netted fabrics as well as stretch jerseys...
he had his heyday around the same time as claude montana and rifat ozbek...
they are contemporaries...
unfortunately- these guys are all pre-digital era, so there isn't a good record of any of their stuff...
your best bet is probably to try to find editorials that feature their stuff---
look for models from that time-
yasmeen ghauri, nadege, etc...many of their editorials regularly featured the work of gigli...
i guess gigli sold the company and his name along with it in one of those early business blunders that designers made before we all realized what a bad idea that is...
i don't know if he is able to design under his own name or not at this point...
i think he was designing shirts at one point ...i have some vague memory of that...
anyway-
he's a genius---your tutor's right...
i have a lookbook somewhere from that era---
if i can find it i'll try to take pics or scan it or something so you can see it...
