I love Romy very much. Especially in Sissi. I wonder if there's a thread of Romy's daughter.

this is romy on the cover of "der spiegel", a renown german magazine("romy the fragile diva").they featured a long article about her because of the 25th anniversary of her death (may ´07).the second picture is from the article inside.the older she got,the more life left its traces, the more beautiful she became....her face was almost transcendental, every emotion was visible, from sheer joy to mere pain.

I love Romy!! I grew up in Germany and every Christmas they show the Sissi movies on TV. Not until a little while ago did I start searching for pics on the web, etc.

Does anyone know any good books about her? Amazon.com doesn't have any books, they have a CD/book set that I am thinking about purchasing. I read German, and I've browsed amazon.de for books, but would love some recommendations from people that have actually read books about her.

the two bios that i´ve read and found very insightful are :

ich, romy:tagebuch eines lebens edited by renate seydel

you cannot call it a real "biography" ,not even an autobiography .it´s a collection of written testimonies by romy beginning with her diary which she wrote during her time at boarding school at the age of 12-14,then her first film experiences and later continues with notices she wrote for friends, lovers, colleagues, photographers etc. these are romy´s own words and they give a deep and sometimes painful insight into her feelings and experiences.

the second:romy schneider by alice schwarzer (a famous german feminist).she met romy several times druing the latter half of the 70-s,and had long conversations with her.she definitely came closer to the woman beyond the filmstar romy schneider.very welll written too.you should have no problems to find it at amazon.de or you could also try abebooks.de or.com.

if you´re also interested in picture books you might also enjoy

romy schneider-ein leben in bilder by renate seydel.the pictures are also accompanied by a lot information,so there`s also alot to read

romy schneider-das private album by isabelle giordano -contains a lot of pics that were never published before but solely from the period in which she was married to daniel biasini her second husband:the text is interesting too since the author interviewed biasini and their daughter sarah and also colleagues like the director claude sautet.the image that sarah and daniel biasini create is sometimes quite different from what you read elsewhere

romy-c´est la vie by giancarlo botti :this photographer has created some wonderful pictures of romy during 1961 and 1980.the book has been out of print for quite a while but you could probably find it at amazon_marketplace;abebooks,or ebay
:flower:

here some scans from the books i`ve mentioned

these are all from romy_c`est la vie....i`m falling asleep in front of my pc so i`d better stop now and continue another time

Is there an english translated version of "ich, romy:tagebuch eines lebens edited by renate seydel"? Amazon has a very limited Romy books

I think she spoke english 'cause I saw her in What's new pussycat? and she was speaking perfectly english (with Peter O´Toole and Peter Sellers, I highly recomend it, very funny)

romy lent her voice to the synchronisation of all her french films not only in german but also in english.
cpn birdseye,i´m sorry but there doesn´t seem to be an english translation.the only thing i found was a frenxch translation of the book ("moi, romy").

so at least some pics now

sources:1-6 romy schneider-ein leben in bildern
7-9 romy schneider-das private album

Thanks soo much somnambule for the recommendations and taking time to post some pics. I will definitely order those books from amazon.de when I have some money left over.

She was such a beauty. With age, she got even more beautiful. I just can't believe the tragedies and negativity in her life.

I remember her as the cute young girl in Sissi.

Wish she was still with us.
