Rosehip Oil

does this actually really work?

oil on skin? wouldnt that provoke more spots..?

^ No, not if you're using the right sort of oil. Oil on oily skin actually balances things, while it nourishes and moisturises dry skin. Rosehip oil (if you get the right one) is an organic, natural ingredient and is good for your skin. I swear by it ^_^

ETA: I should say though, it's not for everyone. A friend of mine used it and it congested her skin. I only use it once every couple of days now instead of every day. Try it out and see what works best for you.

^ thanks mon amie, il def try it out and see how it works.

ive heard of bio-oil for scars etc, which actually DID help but takes agessssss!

I bought some that I have been using on a small patch of eczema I've had on my leg for years. It's not gone yet but this is the best treatment for it I have tried so far.
I am tempted to try it on my face for my dry as sandpaper winter skin.

The only thing is the kind I bought has no smell.
It says on the package 100% organic rosehip seed oil......

Why doesn't mine stink to high hell like everyone else is complaining of?

Consider yourself lucky....
Mine was almost intolerable.. actually i wasn't loyal with it and don't even know where the bottle is.. but i wish i did, because after reading this thread again i'd like to give it another shot. I have a new oil now.. neem oil.. which is supposed to be incredible as well, but much like rosehip oil it absolutely stinks.. bad if not worse than the rosehip actually..:innocent:

I wonder how it is possible that yours doesn't smell and it says 100% rosehip seed oil... perhaps they've put it through some processing to remove the smell? does it have no smell at all, or you just don't mind how it smells? I have so much trouble believing that to some noses it smells okay...

It does have a smell. Muted and musky like Belowen says.
I wouldn't call it a strong odor though. I use it on my leg and can't smell it soon after I apply it.
I will say I am not overly sensitive to any smells though. Maybe you have a more sensitive nose then me.
The brand I bought is Aubrey Organics. From what I just read online it says 100% organic and rosehip seed oil is listed as the only ingredient.

I would be worried I'm not using the good stuff but like I said before it's working wonders on my eczema.
From reading reviews online it seems like a mixed bag. Some claim to love this brand and others say it's low quality.
Like I said I am just using it on my leg right now and it seems fine. If it is indeed a lower quality oil I would be hesitant to use it on my face.

i have been using kosmea rose hip oil for the last 5 years, i'm 26. I use it every night before bed after spritzing my face with jurlique spray- i think the oil sinks in better if you face is slightly damp. When i wake up my face is glowing.
I do consider myself to have sensitive skin and occasional pimples but its never because my the rosehip- the rosehip balances my skin. i notice when i forget to put in on some nights as my skin doesn't look as even and glowing and plump in the morning!!

both my grandparents are in their 80s and use it every night as well- my grandpa has never use a product before but for the last 5 years he applies it religiously- he puts it on his arms and neck as well though and loves it!!

i have tried other brands and noticed the smell was different so i buy the kosmea one because i like it better...

Gotta bump this thread because I love rosehip oil. I think the trick with is it that you cannot use it on open wounds, and I consider an acne as an open wound. Or if you just had extraction. Then this will congest your skin.

^ i use Trilogy Rosehip oil. it made my dry skin so soft and my skin tone so much more even. but then i started to get all little bumps around my chin under the skin (they weren't noticeable when i had a bare face, but as soon as i put foundation on that covered my freckles they stood out) and stopped using it. then i discovered it was actually my new foundation doing it so i have started using it again and just use it everywhere but my chin to avoid this and i can't believe i ever stopped!

i always apply it to a slightly damp face and it absorbs so much better, rather than sitting on the skin and feeling greasy

I've tried all different kinds of Rose Hip oil by now and I have to say that the Kosmea certified organic one is by far the best I've used.

Awesome, thanks! I'll pick up that one once I finish my current bottle (Sukin).

I haven't tried Rosehip oil but my BFF and I are so alike in beauty choices, and she basically says the same as the posters above - AMAZING for scars.

Sylphide - Retinol is amazing for the skin, I've been using it and my skin is glowing. (It's very good for acne as well, but takes quite awhile until you see results.)
