OCM - *oil cleansing method

I know this is an old thread, but it has worked wonders on my skin! The weather has been extremely harsh the past few days, and my skin is glowing!:blush:

I just started this like 3 days ago.. i'm using olive oil because it is all we have. but does anyone have any recommendations for what to use on the blemishes that i already have/had from before starting this?? i'm hoping they'll go away soon, but i'd like something to spottreat in the mean time..

^hmm. . there are a lot of things you probably have lying around the house you could use. I.E. a lot of ppl say Neosporn is really good for blemishes, but idk i've never tried it. Acne Spot treatment by Neutrogena works really well & effectively i heard, too. Just some suggestions :flower:

i havent done the ocm in a long time, and im mad cause it actually worked for me!

i just need to go down to the shu uemura boutique and get some oil, i kinda hate using olive oil on my face because i smell like food or something.

and this is definitely a must need to do thing, i've been having dreams of horrible break outs, and that just puts it out there

^ I was wondering also. Is it basically using an oil based product to remove your makeup and then following up with a cleanser? I have been using Dermalogica's pre-cleanse oil to remove my makeup before cleansing (awesome stuff!) but then found MAC's cleansing oil which is much cheaper and does the same thing. Using oil before cleansing I find is the best method for throughly cleaning your face - although I would NEVER just use oil - have to finish with a gentle cleanser. But again I wonder if this is what everybody means by OCM?

OCM is using oil to actually do both....
remove makeup and cleanse.
There are some great directions on Page 1 of the thread.

I've been doing this for a week or so...and I LOVE it...hopefully there is no turning back!

I done this with olive oil we have in the house and I liked it but I haven't done it as much recently and I want to because my skin was more glowy than usual.

i really want to try this, but i don't know where to buy these oils. can you seriously use the same olive oil that people buy to cook with?

I do, even though people have mentioned using things like lavender oil or jojoba. I've used the olive because it's easy to use something that's already in the house. I think I want to look to get some jojoba if I can find any.

Olive oil or EVOO? I'm interested. I do like Dermalogica's PreCleanse in the evenings for sunscreen removal, followed by Sisley's Lysait or La Prairie's Emulsion cleanser.

OK after reading the first post on p 1 i do agree this could be beneficial, however never steam your face right over a boiling pot of water. Steam should always be 12 to 16 inches (or your arm's length) away from your face. Reason being is that is enlarges your pores when it's that close, and if you have thin, sensitive skin (any skin type actually, normal to a thicker dermis) your capillaries can actually burst.

i just looked through the whole thread and i think i might try this out too (even if my skin isn't bad, but i don't want to use so many chemical-products) ..

so, do i just apply the oil to my face (with make-up on) and then steam with some hot-washing-cloth and rinse it off with cold water?

I would rinse it off with tepid water, cool, cold is shocking to the skin, and hot steam towels should always be temperature tested before applying to your face so you dont burn.

Hmmm I may try that Kanebo stuff if I can find it!
Me too. There's also the expensive department store Kanebo cleansing oil~
A luxuriously rich, rinse-off oil that applies like liquid velvet over the skin. The first step of the SENSAI Double Cleansing system, followed by a second step, a Sensai soap specific for your skin's needs.

5.1 oz $50.00
