But why would any publicist worth their salt match Ryan, an aspiring a-list, serious, dramatic actor who's aiming for an Oscar up with Eva. Eva, basically a hoochie for hire, whose sole responsibility in most films she appears in is to appear hot (and at 37, this kind of career is approaching its use by date).

That's exactly what I think! If they wanted to create a buzz, they would have tried to get him to date Emma Stone, or another actress on the rise...

I think people forget that he dated Sandra Bullock -his co-star- before he dated Rachel -also his co-star- so 1) he´s dated older woman in the past and 2) he´s dated co-stars in the past. I personally think it´s a PR stunt looking at those pics but it wouldn´t be far fetched to believe he´s dating Eva for real

I was talking someone I know who's a member if the Academy (one of my spies!) and has been going to all the screenings in LA. The Drive one was a few days ago and apparently people were commenting on how miscast Drive was apart from Ryan. People had passed comment on the fact they hadn't seen someone hold the screen like that since Brando.

Looking at the Gangster Squad pics and the Touch of Evil vid, he's really got a noir film going on, like Bogart or Cagney. I actually think he's got the stamp of a really old fashioned leading man.
