I'm still annoyed that Ryan didn't get an Oscar nom. But it all comes down to politics and it's not like he or his PR people actively did publicity for a nomination. I think film distribution companies (like Harvey Weinstein's) that really campaign for an Oscar nomination are more likely to receive one. And unfortunately those who are more humble about their work get pushed to the side. Which makes me sad because Ryan really played his character well and has deserved a nom before this too (such as for Blue Valentine). Hopefully The Academy will come to their senses and nominate him for the next role which he plays well.
