Wow, some really bad ads this season
Where to start....
Burberry- finally they changed the idea a bit from those stale b&w "I'm British and so cool" shots, but even still I'm not impressed. Call it effortless or whatever the chic word is for it, but to me it just seems lazy. On second thought, it seems like a Micheal Kors ad minus the jet.
Dolce- a bad campaign for a bad collection. I can't say I'm disappointed cause I wasn't expecting much. Even considering the last three campaigns (which I loved) I didn't see Meisel being able to work any miracles.
Gucci- it doesn't even look like Gucci. Even with Gucci printed accross it I'm still not convinced that it's Gucci. It looks like a few of Phoebe's Chloe ads rolled into one with some heinous floral prints thrown in. And Frida really needs to shut up with all of the optimism and joy crap already.....
Cavalli- would have been good for last spring's collection, but it doesn't go with this one at all. The 06 collection was all rich-b*tch, Palm Beachiness....the ads don't match up at all, and the coloring isn't great.
Vuitton- wow, neon much? Again it's a case of a bad campaign for a bad collection. It just seems like the same thing rehashed for the past few seasons.
Dell'Acqua- not bad compared to most of the others, but it's nothing particularly interesting. I'm not a fan of Eva, and they could've done something more with it.
Chanel Eyewear- I love Selma, I mean, they're only eyewear ads and therefore are nothing special, but truth be known I wouldn't mind seeing her in the Chanel rtw ads.
Miu Miu- I'm shocked by how well they turned out. I was skeptical about the choice to use Kim Basinger (she's gorgeous, but Miu Miu's all young and quirky) but she looks like a natural in them. I don't even love the ads so much, but they're just so much better than I expected them to be.
I'm still waiting on Prada, MJ and Lanvin (all of which I hope wont disappoint) but as of now this looks like a terrible ad season.
