S/S 2022 Open Discussion Thread

^You and me both...but he was the last person I expected to go quietly into that good night.

I couldn’t care less if Marc isn’t coming back.
I really hope that when he comes back, he and they (LVMH) will really have a strategy to have his brand really back in the scene...
I would really hate for him to be this bubble that only exist from the moment the collection is shown to the moment MFW starts (and it has already kinda been that way).

Milan Fashion Week has the go ahead for September (21 - 27 September). There are four new brands appearing on the calendar: MM6 Maison Margiela, Luisa Spagnoli, HUI and Vitelli. On the other side Moschino is leaving Milan Fashion Show for New York Fashion Week.

All show schedules for New York, London and Milan are now up on the forums and stuck at the top of Designers & Collections, and I will be sure to add Paris once it becomes available.

Apparently a Versace x Fendi collaboration to be unveiled on Sunday during Milan Fashion Week:

As if Versace wasn't a commercial parade of nothingness already...they got the master of that style to do a collab with them!

Kim Jones is not capable of designing anything on his own, is he? Most of his shows, at Dior, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton - have relied on "collabs" or other peoples talents. Let's be honest, the man doesn't have a strong enough design vision on his own, and therefore needs to consistently bring outside voices in. So disappointing.

Also, this is a little 'done', no? Christian Lacroix x Dries van Noten were first, then came Raf Simons x Prada, then Gucci x Balenciaga. LVMH as usual, late to the party...

Im tired of collaborations….
And it’s not like it’s a Gianni/Karl collaboration (even if some seasons, their collections had a real echo)…

This is just another branding exercise.
Dries and Lacroix + Miuccia and Raf are the only real collaborations. The rest is just pure branding and Marketing. All I expect is fendi logos mixed with Versace classic prints..Or Baguette bags printed with Versace prints. A print on print situation…

Can you tell me what season it was? :bounce:
The most obvious example was maybe Chanel and Versace SS1995. It’s almost like they are dressing the same woman.

But there were moments when their work echoed each other. They both included some kind of Biker sections in their 1991 winter collections, the leather from FW1992 even if Gianni was more S&M. For spring 1993 they both went for a softer look…

And it’s interesting to see how both had the same trajectory in terms of aesthetic in the mid to late 90’s. Of course there were external influences and the rise of a new generation of designers but I don’t think Karl’s work and Gianni’s work was comparable to any of their contemporaries (of their age). They were pushing the limits of taste.

But I also wonder if that didn’t have more to do with the involvement of Carlyne who styled for both brands.

Then again, Gianni has always expressed how Karl was his favorite designer, how he was his maestro and the whole stuff.

how did the maryam nassir zadeh collection end up in the most viewed shows on voguerunway?
