Samantha Harris leads a new antipodian runway pack for Fall

Meanwhile, the first indigenous Australian model, Samantha Harris, is about to hit the international circuit. Harris arrived yesterday in London - skipping the New York shows, to ease her into things. Pending how London goes, Chic/Next may then send her to Milan and Paris. Harris features in an only girl editorial in Vogue Australia this month. And here she is also, above, in the new SS10 (Australian FW10) 'Ab Fab' campaign for Australian fashion brand Antipodium, which collaborated with several indigenous artists for the collection. And Harris will not be the only new Australian face at the shows.

To be honest I don't find her that pretty.. ok so I guess people will say shes beautiful because shes unique but seriously.. oh well she seems like a sweet girl.. though I think shes more of an 'edgy' girl as apposed to being 'pretty pretty' .. it doesnt have to be a bad thing..

^Ah well I guess different strokes for different folks.. to be honest I can't see her appealing too widely and this isn't about her skin colour.. she has a very edgy look .. I really really think she won't be vying with Miranda Kerr for jobs because they are in two absoulutely different categories. Mirandas more 'comemrciall beautiful" Samanthas more unique.. but then again different tastes..

So i guess Chic and Next plans for her didn't go ahead, i didn't see her in one show. Or perhaps no-one wanted to book her as she is very beautiful but her walk is quite off.

i actually saw her on the news only yesterday- she was walking for some Australian fashion festival with an Alice in Wonderland theme. Its actually quite average imo. So many of the new popular girls have bad walks- i dont think that is the reason she wasnt at NYFW

Very exciting news.

Samantha Harris to appear on the cover of Vogue Australia.

While hosting an event at Louis Vuitton’s flagship store in Sydney, Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Kirstie Clements let slip that Samantha Harris will feature on an upcoming cover of the magazine.

Harris was showcasing pieces from the spring/summer 2010 collection to special guests, when Clements interrupted her mid-pony walk.

“The Vogue team have been keeping a close eye on Samantha for some time,” Clements said. “She’s definitely a talent to watch and we’re thrilled that she’ll be on the cover of our magazine during Australian fashion week.”

The Aboriginal model blushed and continued with the job at hand. “We’re so proud of her,” said Kathy Ward from Chic Management. “She’s really developed into an incredible model but this will certainly push her career even further.”
