so we all know scandinavia is indeed very creative, both when it comes to fashion and music,

whats your favorite scandinavian band/singer?

at the moment, im so hooked on emiliana torrini's "jungle drum." so catchy.

I'm Scandinavian, and my favourite bands are many, depending on genre. Røyksopp, Kent, Mew come to mind.

Right now I'm hooked on a small up and coming group called "Harry's gym" with a song called "Old man". A fantastic electro pop tune.

It's hard to say as there is so much good music coming from Scandinavia. But at tis moment, I have to say it goes to the Iamamiwhoami project !!

lykke li
emiliana torrini
peter, björn and john
marit larsen
miss li
anna ternheim
salem al fakir
donkeyboy

Yeah there are quite a lot of great unknown (at least to the rest of the world) artists from Scandinavia. As I'm sure there are from other parts of the world as well ^_^

Some of my favorites at the moment are:
Thee Attacks (60´s garage rock)
The Blue Van (garage rock)
Tina Dico (singer/songwriter)
Turboweekend (electro-rock)
Analogik (an electronic mix of balkan, hiphop, polka etc.)
Ibrahim electric (jazzy, rock, blues etc. etc.)
FM Belfast (dance-pop, electro)

Håkan Hellström will always be my favourite

This guy from Swedish Idol is amazing :woot: I hope he'll go far.

The Knife/Fever Ray
Avner
Jenny Wilson
Røyksopp
GusGus
Ólafur Arnalds
Múm

i'm not sure if anyone of you have heard of Oh Laura before? but they are amazing. they did this song called "release me" if that ring any bells.

"it aint enough" is super catchy.

Kings of Convenience at the moment, they put me in a mellow mood... ^_^

No one has mentioned Kashmir! Are they big over there? A tfs member introduced me to their music. ^_^

^They are big in Denmark. :D
I heard them this summer and Kasper Eistrup (the lead singer) was wickedly cool  - I'll never get sick of the album Zitilites

Oh yeah I so agree with the above mentioning of: Kings of Convenience, Múm and Jenny Wilson. The Whitest Boy Alive are great as well ^_^

Sure they are. They are danish ^_^

Well, technically speaking Scandinavia only consists of Norway, Sweden and (Denmark). But Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Finland are normally considered as being a part of Scandinavia as well. I guess that is the most common belief.

^I'm no expert but I think it's because the term "The Nordic Countries" has been mixed up with "Scandinavia", as "The Nordic Countries" cover all the nordic countries :p

But as words and their meaning evolve. The definition that Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands is a part of Scandinavia is just as correct. It's just a more recent definition.

For some reason I've never been wild about The Raveonettes, I know a lot of people who are. But I just haven't felt that spark  :magic:

These two songs are good, and I think even if you don't understand what they're saying they're quite catchy.. ^_^

Oskar Linnros - Från och med Du

Daniel Adams-Ray - Dum av Dig

They're both members of Snook (Swedish hip-hop duo). They're my guilty pleasure artists..
