Seattle shopping

I always thought that they had it in Nordstrom...so thanks, I'll check it out. :)

H&M opens on September 12th at U Village & September 18th at 6th & Pike Street downtown Seattle.

Hermès will also open a store at the Bravern. Microsoft is going to occupy the two office buildings at the Bravern. Microsoft employees aren't known for their fashion sense... yeah I've seen how they dress when I freelance there & I can't imagine many of them shopping at most of these stores opening at the Bravern. Seattle is very loyal to Nordstrom & Neimans once opened a small store featuring the best of things at Westlake Mall in downtown Seattle & it didn't make it. No other big retail speciality store has dared set foot in the Seattle area. Macy's a chain dept store took over the Bon Marche. Granted there is a lot of money in Bellevue & the surrounding area but how many of those women are going to want a Hermès bag? I'm just not sure it will be enough & it will be interesting to see how it all plays out & which of these stores manage to survive.

I want to check out the Neiman's (meaning the progress during construction) next time I come back home. Once I'm done with school at UCLA I might return to Seattle, maybe try and get a job at the Neiman's as an aesthetician. I think Bellevue is the perfect place for it, (obviously it wouldnt survive downtown, and the Galleries of NM...that was a joke) and it will do well there, particularly being seen from 405..not too sure about Hermes, another LV sure, but everything opening at the Bravern is supposedly going to be only luxury. We'll see how well it flies out of the stores

Burberry is back in Seattle, well, back in the NW. Burberry opened a boutique in Bellevue Square last week.

I was walking around downtown today to get away from my parents while they were cooking and driving me generally crazy...turned the corner past the Seattle Hilton going west on University and saw that Gucci has now taken the corner there at University and 5th where Escada used to be. It's not the first time Gucci has had a boutique in Seattle, there was one in the 80's until 1990 or 1991. The manager of Barneys worked there. :D I would assume now there will be a Gucci added in Bellevue when all the upscale shopping opens there around the Neiman's next fall.

Isn't there a small Gucci store at Nordstrom in Bellevue Square, or has that been removed since the last time I visited (quite some time ago)?

There's one in Bellevue and in Downtown. I was looking in the windows of the boutique, I didnt recall seeing any clothes inside, the windows were all bags and there was a photo of Rihanna in one of them.

One word: Totokaelo!!! On Western Ave, it's the sister store to Impulse and they have a website (totokaelo.com)....they have some awesome pieces from designers like Acne, APC, Margiela, Play by CdG, Isabel Marant, Rachel Comey, Rag & Bone, Y's by Yohji, etc. and the website gives great styling ideas!! Everyone should definitely check it out :)

My shopping in Seattle is basically limited to thrift stores... The Value Village on Capitol Hill is awesome. I always find really quirky pieces there. It's the best one in Seattle and it's probably because of its clientele. I really recommend going there before you go to anywhere like Red Light or Buffalo.

Seattle definitely has some stylish people, just not a very large selection of stores.

^ I agree about the Value Village in Cap Hill. I've found a lot of cute vintage stuff there. And a lot of current, trendy stuff. Today, I found Genetic, Blue Cult, 7 for all Mankind, and True Religion jeans, all in a size 29. I guess someone was cleaning out their closet.

The Lifelong Thrift down the street is also really good. It benefits the AIDS Alliance.

Anyone been to Insurrection Vintage on Greenwood and just up from 85th? They have an amazing leather jacket selection my friend told me and I went in, and it was really expensive, overpriced, the guy hovered over me, and I walked out, after seeing like 4 jackets I really, really liked. I just hate being watched and stalked while browsing.

Also, the Neiman-Marcus opened yesterday in Bellevue, today Louis Vuitton opens, there is also an Hermes (not sure if that is open) and Salvatore Ferragamo, Bottega Venetta, etc.

I'm going to go check out the Neiman's on Monday...from their website, they dont appear to have all the luxury cosmetic lines I was hoping for, like La Prairie, though I didnt want my friend at Bellevue Nordstrom down the street at Bellevue Square who is the La Prairie Cosmetics Counter Manager/Pacemaker there to have any competition.

I will report back. Just was curious who is planning to go, and what you'll look at.
