Seattle shopping

not to be nitpicky...but the louis vuitton store has bags and accessories, as well as shoes, jewelry, and watches. just fyi

I just found a new store in Freemont that I am in love with. It is called Impulse. I practically love everything in there.

Has anyone been to Atlas Clothing in Broadway or the Red Light District. Did you find anything, and i was wondering what are the price ranges of those thrift stores?

I'm kind of late on the trend but I'm looking for a cheap fedora. :ninja:

Ive been to both - I prefer Atlas...to me it is more authentic vintage whereas Red Light is way more expensive (mostly 40+ at Red Light and probably around 15+ at Atlas) and although still vintage, has a more mainstream feel. Red light is way bigger than Atlas though, and more diverse in their selection (at least in terms of women's clothes).

I would assume you would have better luck finding a fedora at red light, but def. try both since they are a couple blocks (like 4 or so) from each other.

Hope this helps :flower:

Also, I heard there are some good vintage stores in the Udistrict (I don't know if you are from the Seattle area/if you know where that is?)

Yeah I will check out both, I need to return some jeans to the Urban Outfitters there so I might as well! Thanks for the input. :D

The U District is so adorable. I'm actually staying with my brother who lives close to it and I THINK the bus route to downtown seattle/broadway passes there, so I think on the way back if I have any money left I'll take a look. :) I was actually there earlier this summer I just didn't really take the time to look tbh.

I like Atlas. I live about a block from there so I go in there a lot. I used to love a few places in the U District;havent gone shopping down there for years though.

I hate the Louis Vuitton boutique. And I'm pretty disappointed with the new Barneys. Seattle shopping is just not fabulous, IMO.

a few WONDERFUL seattle area boutiques:

--Manhattan in Kirkland (boutiquemanhattan.com) for cute, fun party dresses like Karen Zambos, Nicole Miller, etc.

--Derek Andrew in Bellevue for feminine pieces like Juicy and Rebecca Taylor. Also the owners of the store created Twill 22 and Twisted Heart so they have ALOT of that--and ALL color-coordinated. It's an adorable store.

--Posh on Main in Bellevue (poshonmain.com) for higher-end designer shoes such as Marc by Marc, Lanvin, Sigerson Morrison, etc.

--Mercer in the University Village in Seattle (mercerstore.com) for jeans, Juicy, and clothing for ANY occasion--they really have EVERYTHING from Vince sweaters to DVF dresses and everything in between.

--Canopy Blue in Madison Park in Seattle (canopyblue.com) for Hamptons-esque clothing such as Milly, Tory Burch, and See by Chloe

--Aritzia in the Bellevue Square mall, originally a Canadian (i think?) store, they have lots of cool in-house brands, and designers make alot of special dresses and jeans for their store.

--also for whoever said they like Sway and Cake, there is a store around the corner from the downtown location called TBC that sells all the stuff that didn't sell in the sale at deeply discounted prices. VERY nice, and there are always a few awesome finds there!

Anyone have recommendations for good thrift/vintage stores?

I am familiar with Red Light, Cross Roads, Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Value Village, but I'm particularly wondering about the good stores in Fremont and Ballard that I've heard about and haven't found.

I'm also wondering if anyone knows where the rich ladies of the eastside cast off their wares.

OOOH i have the PERFECT places for you, quimby!

There's a designer consignment boutique in Kirkland called Ragamoffyn's. They have excellent stuff--Chanel, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, you name it!

There's also Betty Blue in Pioneer Square that has amazing discounts on the high-end designer stuff, I had a friend who snagged a pair of amazing Prada shoes for less than $200.

Another one is the Alhambra Warehouse in the U-District. All of Alhambra's old stuff deeply discounted!

The last one, I've heard of but have never been is called Alexandra's in downtown. Supposedly they have lots of Chanel, Prada, Vera Wang... Here is the NWSOURCE entry for it: http://www.nwsource.com/ae/scr/edb_vd.cfm?c=s&ven=22566&s=nws

hope that helps!

^ Ooooh, field trip!

Thanks! I've already karma'd you for your other post, or else you'd get another. I'll try to report back if I scout out any of these places (which may be awhile).

I've been to Betty Blue and got a Neil Barrett jacket that supposedly I saved $495 on. Betty herself helped me out the entire time with suggestions and trying things on and was such a sweetheart. I intend to go back for another visit the next time I'm visiting family in Seattle. So def. check her out.

I've been in Alexandra's and the place in Kirkland too...my sister lives on the eastside and gets knock-off bags at Ragamoffyn's. But I remember it was a mix of real stuff and fake.

it was in the news a few days ago. let's see if i remember what it said...

3 locations: downtown, u-village and south center
opening up before the end of the year...I think the article said september?

yes, i'm excited too. love all the finds from h&m i see in the secret shopaholics thread. i'm sure it'll take searching to find good pieces that won't be seen on everybody, but i'm up for the challenge :muscles:

I was told by a SA at Barneys that H&M was going into their old spot in the City Centre. But then I seem to recall going by there recently and seeing another store's advertisement in the window as to what was going to replace Barneys. But yes, I've heard this H&M talk for a while now.

520 Pike Street

Kenneth Cole is there now...so I wonder if they are moving or closing for good.

the town is completely and utterly devoid of anything fashion. I used to book trips to Vegas and Vancouver just to go shopping.

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration! Seattle may not have all the high end stores like Paris or New York City does, but it's got plenty of smaller, and often times more interesting, shops.

Plus, I wouldn't really call it a town. ;) Seattle is the largest city in the Pacific Northwest.

We may lack shopping here in Seattle, but I like to think that this city is not completely devoid of fashion. My friends, family, and I order alot from stores in NY and online, and between that, Barneys, Mario's, Nordstrom... and all the cute little boutiques popping up everywhere.... I think we do pretty well... thank you very much

Plus, it's fun to take shopping trips to Portland, Vancouver, LA, Vegas, NY, etc... that way you have stuff that nobody else has...and you don't get in trouble as often for splurging :)
