cardboardboxed, those are so cute!!! I especially love the last one. it suits you so well. and what do you mean you are not good at sewing!!?? those are so amazing!!
Awww thanks. I don't know, I can't make things from scratch, really. Like, I can alter clothes really well, but if you give me a pattern and a big sheet of fabric, I don't really know what to do!

Unless it's tulle skirts. Those are sooo easy. And fun!

I've recently finished these:

A jacket

My red skirt, I did it for school, it's all puffy at the back but the camera is bad so the picture quality isn't really good

The back of the skirt, it wasn't finished when I took the picture, that's why it has white stiches around the zipper

Red polka dot skirt and skarf, I also did the shirt but it's a long time ago

Hat/pin. I want to add thin net amterial to this one and make it more fun

Handbag

Awwwww thanks!! haha, I wish I had my sewing machine with me here... But I'm going home for X mas.. maybe I'll bring to back to college with me! But then again I'm taking 20 credits this quarter... so if I get distracted by clothes I'll probably fail >_>;;;

Betty Boop, I love the jacket!

dude, you are like super human!
Haha no just a masochist...

The funny thing is I don't even work hard.. I just cruise by and still get Bs with little effort. I could probably get As if I realllly tried, but I'm too lazy to put that much effort into things when I know it's so easy for me to get Bs.

yeah! screw A's. A's are for nerds and total losers.
Yeah for just cruising. Save your actual trying for something worth while.... something better then retarto school. Good job.
So maybe you should bring your sewing machine after all. You know?

Yeah I might. I don't really have room for it though! And I don't want to have to bring it back to my house after I go home for the summer. We'll see...

Meh, I'm an amateur sewer/clothes maker (even my face screams amateur - When I walk into fabric shops, all the sales assistants seem to take pity on me and start talking at least twice as slow  ) Anyway, I'm thinking of making a loose casual dress during the christmas holiday and was wondering if you guys could give me some help.... Please could someone tell me what fabric I could use to achieve this light, loose and "hanging off" look on the top half of this Dries Van Noten SS05 dress:

firstview.com, lerage.com
(:ninja: Could you please give me a description of it too, like is it easy to handle, will shrink in the wash, will it tear easily, what sort of thread should I use to stitch it, what size of thread needle etc. everything you can think of that I will need to know. Thaaankyoou!)
All help will be so appreciated :flower:

^ I think the same kind of cotton that is used to make sheets might be good. it's pretty cheap too. or some other kind of cotton

I'm taking a sewing course next year
I can't wait!

Hello! Newly joined sewer. Have been sewing since I was 8 (I'm 25 now) and am venturing away from mixing and matching patterns into maybe drafting my own.... Will try to get some pics on here soon. Have been cooing at your various creations while I should have been working hard!!

Hyde Park Lover: you may want to consider sari weight poly viscose (try Shepherds Bush) or silk habotai to get the sheen that is in the pictures...

and Urd.. I'd like to make a skirt like below for my brother's wedding but can't find any patterns at all. The puff's in the shops seem to have their hems gathered onto a less-full and slightly shorter lining fabric. Is that it? Do you know how to make it so drapy and full? Making it in thai silk or dupion should help...Would tulle help do you think?

Thanks for your help and happy sewing !!

here is a buff skirt I made. it has about 3 metres of cotton fabric and the same amount of tulle.

I think tulle will definetely help, and also that you get enough fabric. and the lining should be short enough compared to the skirt fabric.

I think you should take a picture of the skirt you want to create to the fabric shop, and ask help from the sales people. I think it would be more helpfull that my poor advices in my poor english..

hey hye ;)

maybe linen would also be nice for that type of dress? it's loose and falls really pretty. i'd love to see the finished product, whenever you have it done  i have about a billion sewing projects that i swear i'm going to get to soon

mouko, that skirt is really nice and it looks awesome on your friend.

urd, i love that chocolate mint dress and i think it would be so beautiful as a pouf!
