Melbourne model and promising next big thing Shanali Martin is stunning, smart and passionate in equal measure. She is kind, loves her family and her dog and generally seems to have all her priorities in order. She genuinely appreciates fashion and is as grateful as we are for her impact on the Australian industry. While we shot many a random question at her and potentially inadvertently corrupted her into wasting her days on YouTube, Shanali schooled us on being stealth whilst Instagram stalking.
Where do you stand on funny cat videos Vs funny pug videos?
There is a serious void in my life that isn't filled by entertaining myself through aimlessly watching YouTube videos, so my stance is of future prospect!
Really, no YouTube?
If I am going to wile my time away on YouTube it will either be on Vsauce, TEDtalks or catching up on fashion shows.
What's currently making up your favourite playlist?
I can always, always listen to SBTRKT.
Which is better, reading an old school book or using a kindle or iPad?
I am all for the revival of the good all paperback... Print isn't dead!
Boyfriend jeans or skinny jeans?
Boyfriend.
Thoughts on Galliano at Margiela?
I believe we saw a window of insight into Galliano's mind at the latest couture collection which is frighteningly amazing. I wait with anticipation to see what he does at the house.
Have you ever stalked someone's Instagram and then end up liking a picture from, say, 58 weeks* ago? It's fun
I am guilty of stalking individuals on Instagram, but I am much more discreet than to give away the game by liking something from that long ago! Stealth.
If we scrolled back to your first Instagram image what would we see?
I'm not 100% certain but it may have been a flower or a really cool shaped vegetable... the weird stuff that fascinates me!
What do you do during free time on set or before shows?
I love to take a closer look at the clothes, so I often will be turning up hems and inspecting the garments.
