'lucrative Victoria's Secret campaign', hopefully this is not an overstatement by the Aussie media. I remember they said the same thing about Jess Hart. They said she signed a big contract and was one of the angels a few years ago, and they still think she has done the show when she hasn't .

Campaign or catalogue its good to finally see her shoot with them. It was going to happen sooner or later. Hopefully it is a campaign

Well this whole conversation started with your post asking about her possibly doing an event - something that's typically reserved for mainly contracted models or in a few exceptions models who have built up a bit of work for them: neither one a category that Shanina currently falls in. It's like "Let her at least get a catalog picture published before you jump to hoping she cuts ribbons." It's not 100% impossible for it to happen, but event speculation is going from 0 to 60 for sure.

There's usually so many steps that come before that process. That's what some of us are trying to say.

Well she is shooting for VS this week, and its a rumoured campaign. When looking at steps she is half way there. VS could choose to work with any top model in the world, yet they seem to like Shanina. Shanina went into the show as an unknown, and only really known to her fans. How many top models want to work for them? tbh she has done really done well for herself. She has gone a lot further then a lot of other models have. She is only 20, she has plenty of time. There is nothing stopping her from becoming an angel one day, she is definitely a lot closer to achieving it then where she was 12 months ago.

Model Shanina Shaik's career is taking off

AFTER landing a Chanel catwalk show and a lucrative Victoria's Secret campaign in the same week, Shanina Shaik's career has officially hit the major league.

The stunning 20-year-old Australian model strutted for the luxury fashion house's Paris to Bombay catwalk show on Tuesday, wearing a breathtaking India-inspired metallic sari dress and leather boots.

It follows her debut last month on the Victoria's Secret runway, at which she must have impressed considering she was offered a print campaign with the lingerie giant, which she shoots this week.

It's a big coup for the former reality show contestant, who lost to Rhys Uhlich in the 2008 television series Make Me A Supermodel and dropped off the fashion radar.

Her relationship with 40- year-old male supermodel Tyson Beckford has also boosted her profile in the US, and we reckon she'll be getting her coveted "Angel Wings" before long.

The overstatement if anything is Tyson boosting anyone's profile, he hasn't been relevant in the states in like 10 years if she's shooting something for VS then good for her! But saying she's closer to an angel contract just because she walked the show and is on a maybe because of a news report, eh. I'll believe it when I see her shoots for the company.

She did look good at Chanel, though, theme aside.

Purple Dinosaur, we are talking about two completely different things. You're talking about hoping she becomes an angel one day. I don't care about that at all. My posts are referring to your "cut the ribbon" post where you were talking about hoping she does an event. I'm saying what an exception to the rule that would be. I'm just was pointing out the extremity of that scenario and what a rare exception it would be.

Glad Shanina is getting exposure beyond catalog work, but if she works for VS, she will return to catalogs, which I think she is great at.

Anyway, if Shanina is shooting with next week, how long would it be until we see the images. Do VS take a long time with editing and what not? Hopefully it's with Russell James, he usually takes really good behind-the-scenes and uploads them on his Facebook the same day. If I can recall, she shot with him for that bed and body works fragrance. And hopefully she posts some pics on twitter too

Shanina is shooting for VS next week!!! I can confirm!!

There is nothing this girl can't do and based on how far she's come in such a short time I think she has the potential for anything as she seems to be proving.

The opening of the VS shop at the airport would be great to see if Shanina and Miranda could be there but who knows - anything is possible -

I can see Shanina being an Angel and there's nothing stopping her from getting there - she has done really well in the pre-show interview prior to the VS launch in the US and obviously chosen to participate in the interview as one of the new girls was something to be proud of. There's nothing stopping this girl - time will tell.........

VS Christmas campaign was shot in July and first images started coming out in September and for VS Swim 2012 pics are starting to be released when most models shot during the begginnig of Paris fashion week.)

No I tend to think that Russell has a good eye for beauty and appreciates this by uploading the excellent work he is proud of. I now he was impressed with the work Shanina did in the Bed and Bath Bodyworks and therefore uploaded the pics. I mean who wouldn't appreciate true beauty and then share it with all to see??

Like I said I think Shanina is unstoppable at the moment and good on her! She looked sexy and gorgeous in Initimissimi and the VS show and now working for the likes of Chanel and other designers is merely just the beginning I'd say.

If VS are interested in Shanina - I say "great" I can really see her in VS

I think Shanina is very beautiful, and I hope we continue to see her wrork for VS; however, I don't think she will become an angel anytime soon, because it is pretty obvious now that Lais is the newest angel. Both Shanina & Lais are almost the same skin color, and given the VS track record, I highly doubt they would have two angels who appear racially ambiguous. If VS were two have two models of color, the other one would most likely have a darker skin tone.

Now, I do thing she has a chance at landing a big beauty contract like L'oreal or Covergirl.....

I think both Lais and Shanina though coloured have two totally different looks and I tend to think Shanina's are more exotic (personally both beautiful however I prefer Shanina's) but again that's just me stating my preference. If VS were to consider Shanina as the next upcoming Angel that would be terrific yet a bonus of two coloured girls with totally different looks.

I agree some beauty work would be good to see as she has done some though bigger opportunities of this would be good to see as well - who knows what 2012 holds for Shanina - she seems to be extremely busy considering the year is winding up.

I don't think VS will have a problem with having 2-3 coloured girls, I mean we are living in the 21st century don't think it would be an issue. Like Amazzing said her Lais and Shanina are really different, when looking at them I can't tell one similarity. Plus looking at her preshow interview, she is a really good spokesmodel, and her English is obviously really good. She is also a fantastic role model, due to fact in a recent interview she said is against bullying (she was bullied) and wants to help children who are being bullied. Plus, Shanina has a famous boyfriend, VS like that. She has the whole package...
