ELLE Magazine covers Shaun Ross in the Gold fields video
Australian five-piece rock crew, Gold Fields, is one of the bands we've got our eyes on in 2013. The crew—frontman Mark Robert Fuller, guitarist Vin Andanar, keyboardist Rob Clifton, bassist Luke Peldys, and drummer Ryan D'Sylva—came into this past fall's annual CMJ Music Marathon in NYC with major buzz. This was due in large part to the pulsating dance-rock concoction displayed on their self-titled EP, and it continued with their forthcoming debut album, Black Sun. Thanks to their consistently mind-warping live chops, they left with even more positive critical chatter.
The group has recently unveiled a visually stunning new video for its propulsive single "Dark Again (Lights Out)", and today ELLE.com has an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the video's production, which you can watch below.
As is evident in the video, Gold Fields went all-out for "Dark Again," even enlisting the services of a live wolf (yes, for real) as well as that of acclaimed fashion model Shaun Ross (he has appeared in campaigns for Alexander McQueen and Givenchy, as well as in music videos for Kanye West and Katy Perry) to portray a post-apocalyptic warrior. For the band however, landing a fashion bigwig like Ross was an accomplishment in itself. "He's out of our league," Fuller recalls thinking before Gold Fields approached him on Twitter. "We tweeted at him and were like 'You should be in our video,'" Fuller explains. "And here he is!"
